Mornig blades. I've seen some posts last night / this morning about how desperately disappointed some are (and rightly so IMO) that we haven't brought anybody in this transfer window. I seem to recall however, either at the end of December or early January, Mr Adkins stated that there would be no incommings without some going out. We've somehow managed to get Higdon off the books but that's about it. We have an overly inflated squad of no mark 'footballers' which is sapping any real potential of bringing anyone of any quality into the team. The sad reality is, we had absolutely no chance of obtaining anything like a promotion contending squad this season.
Adkins was never going to be able to assess, dismantle & rebuild an entire squad in 2 transfer windows. IMO, Adkins can only be judged properly once the new season starts & he has had the chance to build HIS team.
The board on the other hand have shown once again how completely inept they are. They have allowed a manager to fill a squad full of crocked or bang average (at best) players & unless they now back one of the best managers we could possibly hope for, I'm afraid to say we're doomed.
The next 6 - 8 months are absolutely crucial for us & there is only one place the finger can be pointed.
