My first solo Sheff United Way video.

I was challenged with trying to summarize how the Blades got relegated in under 10 minutes, this video is very brief but hopefully I covered all the key reasons.

I promise this is my last word on the 2020/21 season.

Feedback much appreciated, if you'd like more of these solo efforts please let me know, if you'd less that's fine too.

2 KEY things for me.

1. Intensity dropped off a Cliff. We just didn’t move the ball quickly enough, exacerbated by poor off the ball movement to create any sort of space for others.

2. Passing accuracy fell well short of last few seasons. Linked to above as, to a man, there was less time on the ball.

I HAVE to question the full tilt in training ethos adopted for such a long time. The players looked knackered half the time. It must have taken its toll in the final analysis.

Enjoyed that, thank you :)

There was lots of reasons why we failed so miserably, but what pisses me off, is in all the years to get promoted to the promised land it had to be Covid year didn't it.
I wish I could have seen some of those teams and players at BDTBL a bit more than we did, but if things click, we might not be waiting too long.
Chansiri has actually made this season bearable.. Long live the King of Thailand

My video is available on prime , it lasts 3 seconds,.it is entitled "we were fucking shit"
Too straightforward that. Let's fill it out with 45 minutes of mumbo jumbo about tactics, formations, Brewster not really stepping up, Burke not really doing much, Wilder not really admitting we are shit, etc.

They played wank, didnt score enough goals and conceded to many.
Done.

Hall (YorkBlade)ad a decent go at explaining what he thinks happened (below). But if you had to put it down to one main thing what would it be?

Mine is the fact we didn't even try to attack in any other way than wide. It was infuriating.

It'd be interesting to know what people would say is the one reason (allowing that it was loads). I think the answers will be all over the place.

Our attacking play was way too slow and allowed the opposition to get bodies back, we had no one who could carry the ball forward.

Almost every team in the PL had players who could break and be used as an outlet whereas we’d hoof it to McB to get it out of defence and it’d come back to us more often than not even if McB would win the header, or we’d piss around with it in possession playing it backwards and sideways.

As you allude to there are numerous reasons why we have been relegated. But if I had to pick just one reason (the main one) then my vote would go on CW continually playing a certain midfielder who clearly couldn't give a toss and went through the motions. By picking this charlatan throughout the season it sent a message that CW would play his favourites no matter what form certain players were in, whilst the rest of the team knew that they were starting with 10 men every match. Didnt take long from there for the players confidence to drain away and heads to go down. Why would you run your blood to water for the cause if your teammate is strolling about taking the piss and getting away with it? You wouldn't.

A totally baffling Thundercunt of a management decision by the Wilder beast. Main reason for relegation....playing the scouse dickhead.

Not having any other options for midfield was the main problem, the whole mess was caused by Wilder's poor transfer dealings, negative attitude and stubbornly sticking by players who simply weren't putting enough in.

We'd have struggled due to all the injuries anyway, but a more positive approach and having options to change things (other than taking Bash off for Billy on 68 minutes) would have at least kept us more in contention and maybe created a more positive environment where people like Brewster could thrive.

Signing cover for positions instead of first team players, not having a plan B. Being totally inflexible with alternative player suggestions.
Not realising Norwood was incapable of anchoring a team in the premiership even though a lot of 'playstation managers' could see this from at least the end of 2019/20 season.
Not signing any decent midfielder at all. Being too focused on signing a young lad unequipped and unprepared to be the main striker for a premier league team(not Brewsters fault).
Not fucking lundstram off as soon as it became obvious he wasnt going to put 1 ounce of effort into his game, apart from 5 games he was shit anyway so should have been a priority for replacement.
Basically the best transfer period ever was dog shit and totally fucked us from day one.
A manager who got arrogant, was inflexible and thought he had the golden touch who then got the face on when he realised he didnt have a clue how to solve the absolute lack of penetration needed in the premiership and ran away through the back door while still trying to avoid blame and cop a payoff.

Well balanced analysis but perhaps we could add in that the dip in performance began in Jan 2020 when Liverpool spanked us, we never recovered. Chelsea/Spuds aside, narrow wins over Norwich, Palace, Bournemouth were hardly the form of champions league potential. Never dealing with the core failure of overloading the wing and the resulting the counter attack risk in a league of teams set up for such opportunities. is what weakened the confidence and destroyed us for the following season.

Cos we didn’t score at one end and conceded too many at the other. 🙄

I feared for the video at only 10 mins 40 but you really pretty much covered everything there.

Only thing I can possibly think of is perhaps a little on th behind the scenes unrest. How long was this going on for? How much did the manager allow this to impact the players and staff? Not recruiting in January as a result, how much was this a further factor?

Nice video Hal. You have a great Broadcasters voice. 👍

I agree with your point in not seeing certain players down at the Lane. However, we couldn’t have got promoted at a better time in terms of when Covid hit for financial reasons. If we was in the Championship with little income, we would be in a right mess now.

I think Wilder's epic sulk caught on with the players. He should have been binned after his second attempt to walk.

Nice one mate enjoyed that.

I'm going to do one called why did the pigs go down, so to save you looking for it on you tube, here's the clip.
Or what would have been in the clip.

"Cause there are ferking shit".

SPOT ON PAL.
you can whine on about Covid crowds + JoC injury till doomsday but WILDER played LUNNYCUNT + it took us down.
Not only because Lunny played the cunt on the field but more significantly because the rest of the squad thought "why should I put in a shift if da boss is gonna play this Scouse twat every week when he's clearly tossing it off ?"
The reasons why CW played LUNNYCUNT against his own stated policy of booting out immediately any player who was not committed to the club are still a mystery.
But it served up relegation on a plate.
