Not defending Ramsdale, he's been poor, but its not his fault we get caught out with almost every ball over the top, and not his fault that our defence lose so many heading duels.

Got to stick with Rammers we paid a lot of dough for him

Verrips has no experience at this level
Price tags and “has to start” is unbelievably naive thinking.

There may be an element of “real world” about it, that I do get, but it doesn’t mean that it is not naive !

'On 23 October 2011, De Gea played as Manchester United suffered their worst home defeat since 1955 with a 6–1 loss against cross-town rivals Manchester City,[49] the first time United had conceded six goals at home since 1930.[50] De Gea was in goal during the league defeat to Blackburn Rovers and was blamed by most media outlets for failing to deal with an aerial ball that led to the conceding of a late goal by Grant Hanley in a 3–2 defeat.[51] De Gea was nonplussed by the error, saying, "all keepers make mistakes once in a while and none of us like it when we do. I have every intention of spending many years here at Manchester United. I want to become a great United keeper and I want to earn and deserve the respect I hope to get,"[52] and spoke of his intentions of surpassing his predecessor: "Hopefully, I will equal or even surpass the performance and contribution Edwin van der Sar made to the club."[53] After this match, De Gea was dropped and replaced by United's second-choice goalkeeper, Anders Lindegaard '

Limdegaard, the keeper who'd played in champions League matches for manu?
Not really like for like comparison!

When we signed Ramsdale I gave him the clean slate. He isn't Henderson. He's not going to be Henderson. He's his own man and comparisons would be unfair.

I'll compare him to George Long. Both look scared to death. Neither had any aeriel or vocal presence.

Verrips for me. We have nothing to lose and if Verrips is any worse than Ramsdale then I'm sorry but we are doomed.

Verrips/ Fodringham must be so bad to not get a game at the moment
I'll beg to differ. For me it's more a case of money and status. Why would you spend £18m on a goalie and bomb him so soon for 2 freebies? That wouldn't look good for Wilder at all.

Ramsdale needs some TLC in my opinion. And I mean professionaly. Simmo had the same issues regards confidence. It can get lonely as a goalkeeper.

We have everything to lose.
Cwak will see Verrips week in week out in training and reserve matches. We have never seen him.

We have everything to lose yet you're suggesting Ramsdale again (I assume?). We've all seen enough of him to suggest he isn't good enough.

2 goals against Man U where Ramsdale could be blamed. The third one was just dreadful. 2nd one - take man and ball.

The huge leap is assuming Verripsnis better. We've had him a year or so, and he's never played. Must be a reason.
If it was Long then there is a discussion, but suggesting a complete unknown is better??

Simmo had issues in that he was absolutely positively with out a question of a doubt an absolute craptastic keeper, possibly with some other issues but that's the main one.

Verrips and Fothringham are non starters

“For their third goal I think Aaron should do a little bit better than what he’s done,” Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield. “I think he understands that.”

Is Verrips going to be wearing the GK gloves tomorrow at the AMEX. Are we going to be seeing a change in goal
Nah it wil be Tufftys pet rabbit in goal, and he will drop another bollock that costs us points.

Tuffty put the rabbit back in the hutch, and give Verrips a chance.

Yes I know it's a highlights reel but quite a lot to like there.

By that logic no team should ever drop their first choice keeper unless they have played in the CL
Ok, I'll rephrase, the keeper who had played for the first team plenty previously.
Vs the keeper none of us has seen in a year.

Bs the keeper none of us has seen in a year.

Everyone has to start from somewhere.

Guita was on the bench for Palace for half a season before becoming first choice in December 2018

When conceding 75% possession and 75% territorial advantage it stands to reason that the goalkeeper is going to have more to do

The more a goalkeeper has to do, the more chances of an error.

Everyone should leave him alone, if a goalie is measured on good saves, a striker is measured on goals scored, and a midfielder on tackles, passes and assists
Ramsdale is miles in front of anybody

I agree. When Deano went, one of the priorities was a new gk, because management knew what we had wasn't good enough.
I'm not saying Rammers is perfect. All I'm saying is dropping him, and people suggesting putting in a player they have never ever seen play seems crazy.
If he'd played for us and looked good, or was from a championship side and always been good, maybe. But he is a complete unknown for 99% of us.

He's played in a decent league before, he's not a rookie. The shots he faced in that video aren't vastly out of place to what he'd face in the PL.

By your logic no number 2 goalkeeper that hasn't played for us should ever play for us

If Verrips is as bad as this thread seems to think, what the fuck was the point of signing him?
This is a question I have. Everyone saying Verrips miles behind Ramsdale etc. Then why sign him in the first place? We weren't forced to sign him!

The one thing he does have over Ramsdale is a presence, he's fucking massive. Some of the goals we've conceded this season Ramsdale would have saved if he was about 4 inches taller.

I don't have an aversion to giving a no2 a chance. I just don't understand how people want it so much in this case.
Rammers has made good saves and mistakes. My worry is Verrips will make more mistakes, otherwise he would have featured previously.
I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just surprised people assume Verrips will be better.
