Who was the last Blades player at a World Cup?

thought it might have been carney but it was the year after he left us

According to Wikipedia David Carney left us in 2009 and played in the 2010 World Cup - almost. One of our worst ever players appearing in a World Cup is fairly bizarre.

Suffo it is then!

How would people feel seeing Lafferty play for Northern Ireland at the World Cup? Personally I'd be pretty chuffed for him and the club, and hope that it doesn't continue being a rarity!

Wow! That's some flat cap and who's the Spy in the other hat?

By my reckoning, only 35 men have managed a team in the World Cup final (there have been 20 finals and 5 have done it twice).

And yet two of them - Raynor and Alex Sabella - have played in the County Cup for United. This strikes me as unlikely, particularly when you consider that (a) only one of them is English and (b) neither of them managed England.

Not forgetting ex-Blade George Raynor. As manager of the Sweden national team he won the 1948 Olympic football gold, 3rd place in 1950 World Cup, Olympic bronze in 1952 & 1958 World Cup runners-up. For this he was knighted by the King of Sweden.

Can we please talk about George Raynors Managerial career. quite possibly the best/most bizarre mix of jobs I've ever seen, bravo
