Interesting to see what people choose between here.

This season has been dreadful and the games are now utterly pointless. It has been a steady realization through the season we're going down.

Do people prefer this manner of relegation if it means we avoid the constant stress of looking at other team's results and avoiding a last minute heart break.

Or does the hope and excitement of staying up and being able to complete at least offer comfort when getting relegated by this manner.

The relegation in 06/07 is probably the most difficult I've dealt with as a Blades fan, I've hated this season but I think I'd prefer going down like we have rather than relive that nightmare again

I’d rather be competing in the league til the final minute than throwing in the towel by mid January.

The actual relegation itself is much easier to take this time round, but the season as a whole is incomparably worse.

To be fair we could have finished 9th again and it would still be incomparably worse than 06/07, so that's bit of pointless statement.

I prefer it this way.

It stopped being painful way before Christmas and it doesn't feel like a real season anyway. It's just a bit boring. 06/07 was fucking traumatic on the other hand.

So yeah I'd give this one a TripAdvisor rating of 3/5 - Would get relegated again, and will recommend it to a friend.

You forgot the third option, combination of the two. Wouldnt put it past us to get within 1/2 points of safety and then blow it. Just when you think it cant get any worse.

20/21 feels like a never ending wake with a shit DJ and room temperature party food.

The Pork Pie has gone a funny colour, and the Black Forest Gateaux will have you shitting yourself inside out.

Re the topic, much prefer this way. You come to terms with just how bad we have been this season. They say it's the hope that kills you, but hope fucked off in the last transfer window

It's easier to take this time round, as we've known it was happening since late 2020.

The manner of it though leaves a sour taste as we've never been as humbled and way out of it quality wise.

06/07 was when I finally twigged that’s this club is never going to achieve a fat lot. The mindset is wrong, This season has just been a drawn out meh.

I think you have to separate the two out.
20/21 has been the worse season of the two by a country mile but the actual manner in which relegation is confirmed won't be anywhere near as gut wrenching as 06/07.

Also, I made a similar thread and poll a few weeks back pairing off 10/11 with 20/21. Interestingly, it seems we are a very divided fanbase on which of those two relegations was worse, splitting 53/47 in favour of 10/11 being shitter.

How fantastic would it be to only need a point in the final game this season. Way better whatever would have happened if that had been the case.

I voted slow and painful but honestly this season has been fucking shit. There’s been about 45 minutes I’ve enjoyed watching the rest has been garbage , so it’s probably only because it’s not a gut wrenching blow in one go.

I went through the stages of dying about the season (anger, despair, bargaining etc etc) and arrived at acceptance by about the end of October. There’s just been nothing good to where I’m numb to the next defeat and can barely even bring myself to check the scores.

We’ve had about 10 goals to celebrate and we’re probably going to lose at least 30 of 38 league games. It’s been horrendous at every conceivable level.

So On Reflection 06/07 was better, hard as it was because there was still something to care about, still something riding on it towards the end. This has been like a ghost season, going through the motions for 20+ games for essentially nothing.

06/07 so much worse. We had to draw against 4th bottom at home in a packed stadium.

Was a season of intentionally waving the white flag in a load of games against the top 6, but also Nade scoring that beaut against Arsenal. And that last game. Painful. Hurt more because i never really thought wed go down the entire season.

This hurts more, because we’re not competing at all. All that hard work, getting everybody to take SUFC seriously again, has gone straight down the toilet. The sheer embarrassment of this season is much much worse. At least the 06/07 team went down fighting.

Which 45 mins was that ? The win at old Trafford? Not sure I could believe we won that but I have a theory that relegated/bottom sides always throw up one big surprise result beating a team at top of table.

This season is now quite relaxing, we are out of our depth ability wise, not helped with a few injuries obviously, but have accepted our fate weeks ago
The feeling after Wigan, Chelsea, Walsall and PO final defeats was off the scale, in reality never want that hurt, disappointment and pain again the rest of my life supporting United

Knowing we're down and have been for months is much better imo.

Both absolutely shite for differing ways. At least I enjoyed the majority of 06/07, whereas this season has been horrible throughout. I'd have to say this season is much worse overall, but gradually receiving the pain is easier to deal with than one extreme burst.
