Where is all the money going?

we were nearly even on the transfers and then theres the parachute payments, but we can only bring in players on loan and from man utd youths?

has Mr McCabe put the money into the hotel and other off field developments such as the court case?

i think there are certain targets McCabe will only spend money on, so he wont spend for the sake of it

I think a move in the seven figure digit will be arriving to the lane soon
not sure why, just think so ;)

A rich Yorkshireman being a bit 'careful' with his cash?

Never!

Seriously though, we've been down the chucking money about route before. I'm certainly not sure about Sornob (but he'll have my support, at the matches anyway), but I trust King Kev.

I very much doubt he'd flog us a bum steer.

If King Kev is serious about his ambitions now is the time to spend a bit of cash, Robson should have the parachute payments, a 2 or 3 million surplus on transfers so far, 20,000 ST sales to play with or is it the case that the board aren't giving him the backing needed. The signing of old premiership midfielders and loanees won't wash for a club with ambition of a return to the premiership, what is needed are permanent quality signings (and they cost money) or we will be rebuilding the team every six months or so. Come on Kev you've said your backing Robbo put your money where your mouth is.

Didn't he do that in the summer?

I can't match the millions that King Kev has put in for us, so I'm way back in the queue when it comes to complaining about him.

When was the last time you spent millions of pounds on anything?

I know I'm probably unpopular for deserting the Mighty Super Blades after this season (though I'll always be a fan), but I can't accept the money that's in the game. That's why I'm going non-league (my eldest isn't though - I'll get match reports!)

I can't accept people's seemingly blase views of "well it's only £2m for him as a show of ambition."

If I had £2m, I'd probably be dead through alcoholic poisoning within two weeks.

It's also not that long since that United wasn't even worth £2, let alone £2m, or even close to King Kev's Kash.

I don't blame him for hiding his hand.

People don't want to let there best players go on the cheap (if at all) and hopefully we wont pay money for players who aren't worth it.
We've been there before haven't we.
Akinbiyi, Horsefield to name but 2.

Lets not forget we probably have the 2nd highest wage bill in the league.

I think the claims that we aren't spending the money we was "expecting" is a bit harsh. I think we should be waiting till end of january before such claims are dispensed.

I don't think you can level at Robson the fact that he spends willy nilly (not saying anyone has). At least that seems to be something he's doing well. I don't know what wages players are on but he certainly hasn't been bummed on transfer fees. I think we're still well in profit in terms of transfers since relegation (Jags, Davis, CKR, Nade, Leigertwood OUT, Beattie, Naysmith, Carney IN. About £5m profit ??) and that doesn't even take into consideration the parachute payments (which aren't meant to be used to buy players).
I'm sure if the right players come along at the right price then Robbo will be in there.

The problem is that it is looking increasingly unlikely that we will be making an instant return to the prem so the chances are the board won't see much return on any investment this season.

Add in the fact that Robbo's signings so far (Beatie aside) haven't exactly set the world alight and i personally can see why we aren't throwing the cash around.

With the exception of Buzaky(sp?) i am yet to see a player transferred to a club in this league that i would have wanted at the lane, i think that is a fair reflection of how reluctant players in the top flight are of making the step down.

People keep saying have faith were only a few wins off the playoff, why not spend abit more, get the players we need in and push like your forcing out a curry?

surely with all robson's "connections" he'd have a few players lined up of quality, after all, wasn't one of the main reasons we employed him for was his great connections with others.
only really had bardsley and this martains through them.

Sadly having money isn't the single solution. Bringing in players isn't like walking round Tesco. The man himself did say it was likely to be towards the end of January and like Jodman says, we arent exactly missing out on anyone so far. Who knows whats in the pipeline.

Have you seen Roy Keane moaning about not being able to get players in without silly money changing hands?

Not just United I'm afraid.

well whats point in having robson in for his contacts if he cant get anyone in?

if we arnt exactly missing anyone the performances should pick up then.

There is always room for improvements.

I know you are frustrated but which Championship manager has signed players that you would have wanted in this window?

If clubs don't want to let players go, or want silly money, and if players won't budge because of good contracts, or family pressures, what do you propose he should do?

It's not like a supermarket with players sat on a shelf.

If you have to force out a curry, you haven't had a decent one ;)

As for the Martians, are we sure they've got work permits, or does Billie Piper have to inspect them all first?

:D

I personally think it's good that we're not throwing money at players that aren't good enough. I'd rather him wait and pick out the right player, which he has done when they've come available, and not spend silly money on players like Akinbiyi.

At the end of the day, you're not going to get anyone any good in the January transfer window because teams are reluctant to let their best players go and it's not weath risking all that money.

january is to get players in to help push for promotion or like last season help avoid the drop.

we got speed, granted hes getting old but a decent signing.

what about wayne routledge (sp)
