Where Is A Good Finish?

I seriously think that we can hover just below the play off positions up to the Jan transfer window and if we are close enough say within 7-8n points then we can strengthen and push for at least 4-6th

Being in a relagation scrap would be disapointing considering we'll have a 6pt start on everone else.

I think 1st is a good finish. I'd be happy with anything other than relegation though.

In practice I think we'll consolidate in mid-table, most likely. Maybe around 10th.

We're not fannying around lad.

I'm happy anywhere between 1st-15th. Season after, top 6! Done.

What is a good finish next season?
Not what we wish for, but a realistic finish where we all stick together next season.

Automatic Promotion, Play Offs, Top Ten, Mid Table, One Above Relegation?
I'm not changing my pic we're doomed

A few of the established Championship teams are going to run out of steam next season, or to be more precise, money. The likes of Norwich, Wolves, Derby, QPR, Leeds, Pigs & Fulham will then stagnate then drift down the divisions in the not too distant future pretty much in the same way as we, Bolton, Charlton & Coventry have done in recent seasons. Expect one or two of the relegated teams to blow the parachute money as one or two of them usually manage to do. With whats left, there's not too many teams to be scared of.

It always helps to look at the bigger picture and not just the downsides relating to our club.

I think it's a fascinating question, for this reason:

When Wilder came into the club last year it was a mess. He would've been well within his rights to say that it would take time and re-building to get to where he wanted to be. That he would aim for the playoffs and steady improvement. But he didn't, he accepted nothing less than first class attitude and application.
It's this very attitude that got us where we are today.

He seems to set his sights on the highest achievement possible, and I see no reason why he wouldn't have the exact same approach in the Championship.
This doesn't mean we should expect a top 6 finish, I think the lower mid table predictions people have made are realistic.

However, I think Wilder will only operate on this expectation in terms of reaction, not preparation. I think if we have a poor result then he will be more conciliatory, but I think in terms of preparation he will be driving the team as if we were going for automatic promotion and trying to win every single game, as I think this is the only way he knows how to work.

Agree totally with everyone who has said it all depends on our transfer activity in the summer.

I would be more than happy with mid table with an outside chance of getting into the Top 6 with say 10 games to go. That would be a great achievement in our 1st year back up.

I reckon 3 or 4 real quality 1st team additions and we might be pleasantly surprised at how well we do next season although Wilder will have to be brutal as you could quite easily say all of the starting 11 yesterday deserve their chance after the way they have performed this season.

If any of our previous league one managers had gotten us out of League one I would expect to be happy with bottom half survival but things are different with Wilder this isn't me a Bladey Blade I genuinely think he has he ability to push us at least to he Play Offs. The momentum will also be key

3rd, two points behind the pigs who then get 3 points deducted for a minor indiscretion.

I will be as happy as a sandman when we reach the 50+ points that will ensure we remain in the Championship next year anything else would be a bonus IMO.

Like this season, the top two was the main aim, I think finishing out of the bottom three is the main aim for next season. But I agree it depends on what happens - if we get massive investment over the summer, and some quality players are signed to compliment the current squad, then we will be expected to finish higher, and a good finish might well be top six.

Personally don't think to much investment is needed.

1x Forward
1x CB
1x of each wing back
1x winger

I know that's 6 new signings, but that's not to much in comparison to how many were brought it and CW clearly has an eye for a god free transfer.

**Edit** - God was not a typo

Really?
Sunderland are generally awfull. Boro not much better.
I'd say the 3 likely teams going down from the Championship are bigger than those coming up from Lg 1 with the exception of us.
I have seen a reasonable amount of Champ football on tv this season and most, not all hasn't given me cause for concern.

Any team with £50 million to spend in parachute payments are going to be a bother.

No team can be as wasteful as we were.

I believe Brighton's wage and salary bill was £27 million last year which is a sign they aren't doing it on the cheap.

tell that to coventry , portsmouth blackburn charlton bolton leeds forest

all long term prem all got parachute , more than us some of them

I've seen the football our boys play. Without a single addition we would comfortably stay up. That won't be the case though.

Exciting times ahead and without spending millions on mediocrities.

Top 6 for me.

And I don't see why not.

Because the current squad would more than hold their own and we are only going to get better!
