Where does Billy Sharp rank?

As an all round striker , I would say Deano is not only the best we’ve had since 1975 but since WW 2 .

Billy and Keith are more comparable with Doc Pace and Billy Dearden and these two probably just shade it , which is no disgrace as both were masters of their art .

My dad said Mick Jones was the best striker since WW2, Deane 2nd

A goal at last, which is something amidst the debris.

It moves Sharp up on the all time list to 11th place. He’s tied with Jack Pickering, who had a 20+ year career at the Lane and scored his final goal at 38 in his penultimate game. It was an important one too: the winner in a 2-1 win over Stoke in a game that Stoke needed to win to be League Champions.

That was also Billy’s 250th senior goal.

Harry Johnson 201
Alan Woodward 158
Keith Edwards 143/144
Jimmy Dunne 143
Derek Pace 140
Fred Tunstall 129
Billy Gillespie 127
Jimmy Hagan 117
Jock Dodds 113
Joe Kitchen 105
Jack Pickering 102
Billy Sharp 102
Alf Ringstead 101
Arthur Brown 100

Today's equaliser was the 250th goal of Billy's career.

234 League
9 FA Cup
6 League Cup
1 Football League Trophy

I discovered the other day that the solitary goal he scored in the Football League Trophy was in a 1-3 win for Scunthorpe in December 2005.

The home team was Halifax, managed by a certain Christopher Wilder.

Did they let non league teams in the competition back then?

Correct me if I am wrong, Woodward was the top scorer three-seasons running. and I think . Deano and Agana scored 30 goals each in one season.I am Sure Silent Blade will have an idea.

I wonder if The Big Tree is his local? I've never seen him around here, but then again I've never actually been inside The Big Tree.

I remember him saying last few years his favourite pub is crown at totley. He lives in dore so isn't far away too.
Never seen him in there mind.

Billy moves above the great Jack Pickering. Although Jack's career was interrupted by WW2. So if you take the goals he scored during the War:

FL: 102
FAC: 9
CC: 8
WW2: 72
Total: 191 (FL and War league: 174)

What's his penalty record here? I think he's had a fair few goals and misses. I think that I read once that Colin Morris had the record for both?
