I think that's radio commentary though, I'm pretty sure they actively encourage him. 90 minutes of "Berge to Norwood, Norwood to Basham, Basham back to Ramsdale" would be quite boring.

Yes he did. Really belted the ball with left peg.
In our darkest of days he stood out, should have done better for himself. Tough in the tackle, really quick and good in the air.

Watching Edwards in the third division was like watching Billy in L1, you just felt he was a class above. His dummy against Bristol Rovers was just ridiculous. My mate’s dad told us to remember that goal because we wouldn’t see many like it. He was right. It’s a shame there were no cameras at the ground (and difficult to believe now) as they’d show that goal regularly.

Always felt he was the most popular player in those days, despite being involved in our decline. He was kind of the link between Porterfield’s Blades and the old team of TC, Woody etc.
 
From under the dirties noses. Leeds lad but became a Blade. Good LCB but declined later when either Porterfield or Mckewan put him at LB.
Saw him in midfield for the reserves in his teens. Fired a backpass from half way, Goalie made a worldie save to keep it out.
Proper rock for us. As long as you heard he was playing all was well. Went off rails a bit later.

Sorry, but if you're a Blade and you don't love Billy, there's something wrong with you.
He has that instinct for position and speed to jump on a chance that is great to watch.
Plus he's strong, and physically, probably much better shape than 5/6 years ago.
And he's loyal and loves his club
And he's a thoroughly decent guy.
Players like Billy don't come round that often. We are privileged to have him in our time.

well said m8 i totally agree if anyone slates my hero billy sharp there not a blades fan at all ..billy is a great loyal lad for sufc a great servant through thick and thin .he scores for fun one of the best strikers ive ever seen in a red and white shirt ,,lol ...nuff said ,,,utb chow

And he proves time after time even after spending millions on strikers that he is still the best putting the ball in the net for us.Can not understand why blades fans question why he is picked.Without him we lose simple really.Sure we would have had a few more points if he had not been warming the bench for most of the season.Also for a 35 year old he keeps himself fitter than some strikers in their early twenties.some others can not play 90 mins .sure Billy can;t but when he comes off he more often than not already done the damage to the oppositions defence.

well said m8 ,,,totally agree i think the world of billy sharp hes class pal ,,always gives his all ,if he was in blades team all season we would be mid table he can score for fun if given game time buddy hes my hero billy love him ,,them who slate him are not real blades fans at all ,billy boy is loyal a true blade who knows were the net is he is fit for 35 he shows up striker who cost millions not suprrised derby wanted him he can rip defences to shreads billy lad ,,rooney wanted him dos that say something but he stayed with us hes loyal love him always in my blades now on sheet for me in sufc team ,,,,nuff said ,,,billy billy billy gets us goals no na na billy blade scores

Rumoured Leicester and Southampton, Lawrie McNemeneny, were looking at 400k for him.
Not a bad amount, nowt came of it. Think he would have improved as a player.

He took two, scoring both.

At Scunthorpe in the 1-1 draw in 1984 (Morris missed the game through injury)
At home to Hull in 1985 (Morris had been subbed). We won 3-1 and that was his hat trick.

Kenworthy took them in 1981-2 and early 1982-3, and then Morris got the job and kept it till after Edwards left.

I think Billy Sharp may well become a top pundit rather than a manager or coach tbh, he has a brilliant persona, he is intelligent and he is just a good lad all around, perfect for telly.

It also means we wont have to contend with some ex-pig praising us through gritted teeth every time we are on the box, or Michael Brown
 
Leicester ? That doesn't surprise me really when you think Sharp will be 35 today? and Vardy who will be 34 next month is a regular but out just now.
I'm really surprised they haven't used Sharp more this season because from what I've seen so far he's looking like the only forward capable of scoring regularly . And even if he doesn't the opposition know they can't afford to forget about him which makes more room for others ...
 
What a bloke.

Really good interview with him and it was particularly nice to hear him speaking about youngsters entering the game and that he wants his own son to just enjoy playing football first, without getting too serious about it. I think there's too much pressure on some kids and it can obviously have massive consequences.
