They broke away and John Egan stood and watched.
Only when they were into our half did he bust a gut to try and get back, and obviously it was waaaayy too late.
Rant not over. Rant nowhere near f******g over.
Every week on a Sunday morning you can hear, 'GO WITH THE RUNNERS'
Us? Professionally, well-trained footballers? We don't do that.
We leave players in so much space it's criminal.
Add to that the pathetic way we mostly lump it away, lump it out of play, tit about and lose possession or run it out of play, and we can be awful to watch.
We have very little composure and what looks good when we play one touch pass and move and it comes off, but that's far too rarely the case, and when it breaks down, we look sooo vulnerable.
Yes, I think we'll still go up, but man do we need to make some changes.
It's easy to fall into the trap of seeing a decent performance by an individual or team effort and think it's an off day when they don't perform.
The reality is that recently, non-performances are the norm, and it's more that there are 'on days' from time to time.
We're going to limp over the line if we're lucky, and if we do manage it, we need to make some serious changes.
Just from those playing today:

Wes - Sorry, we'll need better when it comes to facing Premier League team's attackers.
Osborn - Insufficient skill. can't take a man on.
Egan - Too slow and error prone. Still can't head a ball on target.
Bash - Lost it and it ain't coming back, certainly not at levels needed for the Prem.
Robinson - I'd keep
Bogle - Will probably struggle too much against top players.
Lowe - Will struggle even more against top players
Fleck - It's over.
Norwood - Way too inconsistent and lacking in pace, wants to stand and pass when not under pressure rather than push forward at pace.
Berge - Flatters to deceive. Not strong enough mentally or physically. Too predictable.
Billy - Breaks my heart to say no.

This isn't a gut reaction to a disappointing display.
Blackburn were poor today. I think they gave the ball away almost as much as we do, but we didn't have enough, and certainly won't for next season without some serious investment.

Robinson Anel Ndaiye Mcburnie? and some of the younguns means we need a shedload of new players whatever division we are in

Honestly think us limping over the line is a tad optimistic now. Might be the case if we had only a handful of games left but we don’t, we have 12 and the performances have been really poor, especially away from home.

Rebuild needed either way, we’ve a few faithful servants that are nearing the end of the line now & a couple of big money signings that still haven’t worked out

and yet we're told by some that a tramp could manage our squad to promotion because it's so good.

I would probably blame Fleck for the goal. He sold himself short by going for a ball he was never going to win. They then easily took it past him and the whole pitch opened up. If he had waited, as he should have done that goal wouldn’t have happened.

I was wondering whether he'd try a rugby tackle but it would have been more embarrassing when he missed.

They broke away and John Egan stood and watched.................THAT IS ONE THING I HATE TO SEE.

Partly agree mate, but as a defender I was always told, if you're going up for corners you better make it back.
Admittedly, the midfield was ridiculously out-paced, but as a defender, the first thought once possession is lost is to steam back to defend.
Watch it back, he stays up like a centre forward before deciding to get back to do his job!

Yea, keeping all our top players! What an awful owner. Keep making excuses for the piss poor management team.
Are you serious, this is the guy who put us in a transfer embargo despite all the premier league money. I'm surprised anyone is supporting the clown.

We've kept all of our top players! Heckys got more than enough to finish the job. Name me a better squad in this league?. If he doesn't get us up it's a failure, end of story.

Only thing I'd disagree with is the Blackburn being poor comment. Thought they were excellent. Similar game plan to Middlesbrough. Hassle and out manoeuvre our centre mid and we're toast...

Agreed, that's why I was baffled (especially after his performance W*dn*sd*y) that Doyle wasn't at his side rather than Fleck.

Burnley and Watford definitely, Norwich and Boro probably
Come on! Burnley sold their best players. Boro? Seriously. Stop defending a manager who's cv boasts a league 1 promotion. He's still living on wilders formation and tactics. We've absolutely no identity to our play. that's down to hecky and and his team.

And if we are in this division next year we won’t have 3 of the 4 you mention .. at least

Fair point mate. I still think they were there for the taking though, particularly first half.

Wouldn't disagree. I think we had more quality (potentially) than them, but their gameplan absolutely flumaxed us.

Maybe it's a knee jerk reaction but when you've got the opposition substituting both full backs and taking a CB off before he gets a red card, you know you've won the battle...

I'm putting this one firmly at Hecky's door.

I take it you've conceded then on Watford and Norwich

I do wonder if Bogle, Lowe or whoever was the last man from the set piece had tactically fouled to prevent the break, whether we'd have people complaining that we're doing cynical Premier League things which isn't the Blades way, ignoring the extra point in the bank we'd have
