I presume they did see it, but didn’t think it was a clear goal scoring opportunity.

They’re probably right, but the Egan one should never have been red either. So much for VAR sorting out the inconsistencies.

Also when lundstum got a tap on the ankle in their box had he gone down it would've been a stonewall but he didn't go down, ergo a foul is not a foul if you don't fall on the floor, add a few rolls and a scream and that adds a card

All goals are automatically checked by VAR.

Thats why even if ref blows for a foul or a linesman flags players need to stick the ball in the net so certainty of VAR checking it.

If so, ridiculous. Are we saying that a shirt pull to drag a player back is seen by the ref and isn't a foul then? That's exactly what VAR is for.

I don't have he rule book but that's a foul. Then it's up to the officials if it is a red. But if Egan's is a red, then so is that one. At least Burke had touched the ball. Watkins hadn't even touched it.

So this is where we are. I'm not fussed about having a team of relegated Honest Joe's. Next time that happens, Burke has to go down. Likewise, when that guy stands on Lundstram's toe he needs to hit the deck for a penalty appeal.

We're very naive if we think others won't do this against us. The giant has changed. It's not how it was in Chris's playing days and we need to wise up. We need to play the game as it is now, not how we'd like to see it from some halcyon area played by men's men.

Agree with this...it was very similiar to the Egan sending off.
Think when it comes to red cards you need to be 100% certain it was stopping a goal scoring opportunity.

What gets me is: When Egan was sent off at Villa, Ollie Watkins was also clearly wrestling with Egan as well... both should have received yellows. However Egan was sent off and the precident was set.

Roll on to today, pretty much the same thing happened, but Burke didn't retaliate, no arm wrestling and no diving. Result... nothing!

So do the attacking team now have to cheat in these scenarios to get a decision? Its utter craziness. By the logic and precident set at Villa then of course he was "denied a goalscoring opportunity" as Burke would have had an extra couple of meters maybe to take it round the keeper. These referee inconsistencies are killing our game.

Wilder has virtually said in one of his post-match interviews today that other teams are getting decisions against us by hitting the deck when fouled , so we have to wise-up and retaliate in kind.
