When everybody's fit - what's your team?

Would Camara be in your starting 11 now? Personally, I thought he did enough to suggest he should start every game, even when only half fit!

I agree. With the sad demise of Cotts I would move Wardy to the right to fit Camara in down the middle. Thought him and Williamson were huge positives on Saturday. Starting to worry about Treacey though. Seems to be getting worse with every game at the mo. Still he must be a more progressive choice than Quinny wide LEFT.

Bennett
Walker Morgan Killa Naysmith
Ward Harper Williamson Treacey
Evans Camara

Never ever going to happen but from what we've got available atm/very near future I'd play the attached formation, obviously a change of style would also be applied.

3-5-2 with the below, Walker and Stewart as wingbacks, I think Walker would suit the position really well and from what we've seen of Steward the same applies, I'm shocked we've not seen this tried at any stage in the last few months.

Admittedly I've not seen much of Williamson in an attacking position for us yet though and I'm just hoping that Harper would be better further forward than he has been sat back otherwise he really is useless nowadays. I think most of our players would be better suited to this formation than the few players suited to how we have been lining up/playing.

Havent you picked 12 players there?

Whenever evryone is fit my best X1 would be:
New Goalkeeper -Bunn or Bennett not good enough
Walker
Naysmith
Morgan
New Centre Back Davies not good enough Killa wants away!
Ward
Williamson
Harper
New Left Winger Treacey not strong enough, Quinn not good enough
Camara
New Striker Evans not good enough, Henderson dictate we play hoofball

we still would struggle to achieve play off place
I am assuming we have that clown Blackwell in charge so anything could happen!!!
Anyone who aspires to auto promotion or playoffs this season is deluded and requires certification!

Not including Paddy obviously.

Mine would be:

------------------Bennet

Walker-------Morgs----Killa-------Naysmith

-------------------Monty

-------------Harper-----Williamson

Ward-----------------------------Cotts/Treacy

----------------Evans/Cresswell

We saw how effective this formation can be in Preston Play off semis*. The key is movement up top. Craig Beattie, for all his flaws, had great movement and pulled the Center Backs all over the place, made space for the wingers and Center Mids and proved you dont need a big man up top for this formation to work.

*Formation doesnt work if players freeze at national stadium.

Mark Bunn
Gary Naysmith
Chris Morgan
Matt Kilgallon
Kyle Walker
Keith Treacy
Nick Montgomery
Lee Williamson
Jamie Ward
Darius Henderson
Ched Evans

GK Bennett

RB Walker
LB Naysmith
CB Kilgallon (until January)
CB Morgan

Midfield - pick any 4 at random out of a hat.

CF Evans
CF Ward

>Midfield - pick any 4 at random out of a hat.
still noone has picked quinn.. blackwell has invented midfieldless football.. he probably wouldn't bothering sending them on the pitch but mccabe has told him that he has to consider shirt revenues

----------Bennet

Walker Morgs Killa Naysmith
---------Monty
Cotts Williamson(/Harper) Treacy

--------- Camara(/Ward) Evans

Out of that team Killa will be leaving in January and possibly Treacy (when does his loan spell finish). If Naysmith proves his fitness I fully expect him (as a high earner and symbol of Robson era) to be offloaded. Expect that he will go back to Scotland. Coterill will of course be on his way also.

Not necessarily the best team, but something i'd like to see us try

Bennett (Paddy When he's back)

Walker - Morgs - Killa

Ward - Monty - Harper - Williamson - Treacle

Evans - Camara

Obviously we'll never be adventurous enough to try it and we'd rely on the 'wingers' being fully fit, but Williamson and Monty could protect the back four.

I'd like to see Harper given the chance of a free role (and playing well)

I live in a dream world

-----------Bennet--------------
Walker Morgan NEW/CB Naysmith

Ward Monty Williamson Treacy

-------Camara Evans----------

Bench - GK, Geary, Fortune, Harper, Reid, Henderson, Creswell.

There is enough there to walk into the top 6.

I cant believe so many people are listing Harper infront of Montgomery. If Harper is here to play the "break down" role, which is what he seems to be doing he isn't nearly as good as Montgomery. Before his injury he was easily our most consistent player this season.

When everybody's fit, it would have to be...

Bunn

Walker Morgan Davies Naysmith

Ward Montgomery Williamson Treacy

Henderson Evans

I wouldn't like to see Kilgallon in the team because of his attitude recently, and I don't particularly rate Treacy but out of what we've got, I think it's probably the strongest and most balanced team we can put out.

This is why I don't understand why alot of people seem to think we have a squad capable of challenging for the top 2. We have a squad that can probably get 5th or 6th on form, but top half is more realistic.

I think having Henderson there encourages a certain style of play that I would rather see us avoid. I would like to see us develop a style that suits Evans (if indeed such a style exists!) rather than persist with one that doesn't.

Wide men creating things by beating a man and crossing a ball and midfielders who can spot and thread a pass to forwards breaking through. Oh to dream . . . .
Having henderson in the team only encourages a certain style of play because the manager wants to play hoofball. Henderson is actually good with the ball at his feet when (rarely) given the opportunity. He holds up well and brings the wings/midfield into play. We need a manager who is able and prepared to use him like that to get the best out of him. Its very very difficult to look good with the ball banged up round your head 20 yds out with your back to goal. Doesn't give a striker many options.

Consistenly bad?

I am sorry but you are way out Greg. I am not a Monty knocker at all. I think he is a work horse and when paired with a flair midfield player could do well. He works very hard and protects the back 4. However he was playing poorly before he got injured. I can remember him being at fault for at least 3 goals (Coventry, pen for Swanseas and one of goals against Ipswich).

changed my mind about the team. Instead I'd go with.

--------- Bennett

Walker Morgs Killa Naysmith
----------Monty

--------- Harper
Ward Henderson Evans Camara

A back line full of hoofers. No need for a midfiled except for our very own Didier Deschamps covering the back 4. Tactic: hoof it to Henderson. I'm talking kick it so high it comes down with snow on it!!?? 3 strikers and an attacking midfielder playing off Hendersons flicks. Even if Henderson doesn't win the ball then we've got enough players around to win the second ball.

We should stick to what we are good at. Hoof, hoof, hoof. If anybody wants to watch pretty football they should go to Doncaster. Lump it to big Darius and then we have 3 strikers lurking and feeding off his flicks etc. Why play midfielders when it the ball just gets hammered over their heads? Waste of time and resources. What could possibly go wrong with these tactics???

Hendo Camera

Subs Bennett Monty Evans Little Stewart France Cotts (unless numpty has sold him)

As far as I can see, what you have suggested is what Mr.Blackwell has been doing for the first 3 months of the season !!

It's incredibly difficult to pick a team with genuine balance given the squad we have at present. If we go 4-4-2, we either have to play with a striker (Ward) on the wing or sacrifice pace and fitness down that side (Little). If we go with Ward in his proper position, it means leaving out 2 of Evans, Camara and Henderson which doesn't seem sensible. It's great to have good players on the bench but we don't have the strength in depth for that luxury.

I think the only way to accomodate all of our better players is to play 4-3-3. The problem with this formation is the lack of genuine width, this could be overcome to some extent by having genuine overlapping full backs. That's fine on the right hand side but on the left we've got Naysmith who never crosses half way, Taylor who is OK going forward but doesn't have the athleticism to be up and down the line for 90 minutes or Stewart who can do the running and is quick but can't play. I think the best option, providing he stays fit, would be Geary.

I'd go with:

-----------Bennett----------
Walker Morgan Kilgallon Geary
-----Montgomery Harper-----
----------Williamson---------
-----Ward Evans Camara-----

Subs: Bunn, Quinn, Henderson, Cresswell, Naysmith, Reid, Treacy

Looking at everyones selections the blatently obvious stands out
THE SQUAD AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO GET PROMOTION whoever you pick

I refer you to my posts Fiery (4 posts up) to defeat your argument ;)

Theory quite good except:
Henderson only wins one out of three headers and generally fouls the other two
Ward does seem a bit injury prone
Camara also prone to picking up niggling injuries and nowhere near match fitness
Monty may have to temper his displays as Chelsea and Arsenal are looking for a Makalele type midfielder as he was described on here by Swiss the other day - they may tempt him with an offer of arounf £50,000

Well I'm like KB - I haven't got a bloody clue what my best team or formation is.

Out of interest, as we're in the need of another CB - would it be an option to play Walker there? isn't that his natural position?

Tho that would mean needing a RB to avoid rushing Geary back - I'd go Naughton loan from spurs!!!
