Time some of our players took a look at themselves. Last season we finished like a train, with what appeared to be a great team spirit and bonding between team & supporters. Now we have senior players including the club captain relegated to the subs bench for the opening fixture, with Nigel hinting that these lads have not performed well enough to warrant a start. People like Doyle & Collins to highlight two, have taken a lot of stick from supporters in the past but at the end of last season had won a lot of people over with their performances. Yes we have lost some key performers but players like the two I have mentioned, plus the likes of Baxter shouldn't be sat warming the bench for a difficult opening game. Nigel has taken a lot of stick over his starting eleven yesterday but if some of the senior men cannot be arsed in the pre-season friendlies, what choice did he have ?. We need to rediscover that brilliant team ethic we had at the end of 2013/14, and quick.

It was there 1st half and last 15 minutes but it looked to me as though both teams were settling for a draw in the 2nd half as the game drifted along aimlessly for both sides.

We did lack experience in certain areas yesterday and maybe it was part of the downfall but as I've said elsewhere, Doyle and Collins have been mainstays of the team in recent seasons, seasons where we've failed to get promoted with arguably better players around them. I'd rather we tried the likes of McGahey who is in an almost identical position age and experience wise to Maguire when he broke into the team and whilst you can't replace all of the experience at once, there was enough in the team yesterday for that not to be the issue. Experience or not, basic tracking back and not going with your man cost us yesterday.

If we're planning for next season in the Chumpionship then we need to start building a team now, not relying on Doyle and Collins who wouldn't feature next year if we go up.

From what I was seeing Bristol NEEDED half time to come as soon as possible; we were seriously putting pressure on them before the break. And because of the pressure we had on them we NEEDED to score another just before half time to "knock the stuffing out of them" but its the same old story again isn't it loads of pressure, nobody to bury a chance. As soon as half time came I was half worried about 2nd half because I was expecting another good 45 minute performance and a shit rest of the game with the last 5 minutes being all us, with us being at home, much like the most of last season.

Overall we were quite unlucky yesterday, balls falling to there player after a rebound, slight deflections that puts them on the break, obviously the clearance of the line and the post (oh an mcnulty's clearance lol). But if anyone deserved a win it was easily Bristol because how many sitters we missed but it wasn't a "bad" performance but it needs to improve drastically if we are to be promoted this year.

That's it essay over, thank fuck
Up dem blades

It hurts to lose especially when the expectations are so high but let's not go mad. Give it 10 games and see what's happening then. It was only a few years back that Norwich lost 7-1 to Colchester on the first day and then romped home to win the title. Swindon lost 5-0 on the first day of the season they reached the pay-off final.

Not many teams start the season with the team they end it with. There will be plenty of chopping and changing before we get the balance right. Some teams fly out of the blocks and then fade like Orient last season. I won't be overly worried about our performances until early October to be honest

True, season before last Trannymere were flying, faded, now league 2.
Stevenage league 2, they were playoff fodder for us 2 years ago.

It's all way way way way way way WAAAAAAY too early to start assuming, lets start discussing where the team is going wrong when we've seen the final article.
