Burnley only actually need about 4 more wins and they will be promoted so the that’s pretty much a done deal and they are a very decent side as well, so good luck to them this season

Agree with this.
Which is why we need to look to reintegrate the competitive and battle hardened players as soon as they're ready, the likes of; Baldock, Clark, RND (🤞), Fleck etc.
As much as I like Bogle, Lowe, McAtee, I don't think they have the mentality of the above.

I think we've learned that we're not going to blow teams away playing free flowing, very, very fluid football.
It's time to get back to the grind.

*meant to say "very, very, liquid..." in a nod to r'Dozy. Killed my own shit joke.
Will stick to the day job.

Theyre averaging >2.3ppg over the season.
The last 10 games they've had 2.6ppg 🤯

They can drop off a cliff and achieve 1ppg for rest of season and would still land on 88points.

Theyre gone

So long as one of the wins is against Boro otherwise I think its 6 wins actually at the moment. Boro can get 93 points, Burnley are on 76. However, if one of those wins is against Boro then four will be enough, yes.

Burnley seem to be different gravy to us. Even when we were still riding on Burnley’s coattails, everybody still saw us as the catchable one.

Yep. I at least want RND back at LWB, with Bogle and Baldock interchanging

I Don't deny it. But how come we lose 2 together after a long unbeaten run and our fans think we can collapse to not e ven make the play offs

Burnley won't falter ....but United ...nailed on

That's what I never get from so many of our fans
If you don't understand the psychology of Blades fans always expecting the worst by now then it's something that you will never understand.

There's no logic behind it, I would imagine it's not just our fans who are this pessimistic, it's a support mechanism used to cushion the blows when things turn to shit (they always do eventually!).

Kompany is Michael Carrick's kids godfather and he goes round for Sunday dinner every week, they'll lose to Boro on purpose.

Might have made this up.

That's what confuses me

The lack of logic in the pessimism
Yes we have come up short of expectations now and then but so have most clubs

Our neighbours have 23 years of successive baroness
Preston took 10 goes to win a play off
We are going for our third promotion to the prem but some of our fans see us as failures

Just don't get the negativity
There's teams that rarely or never get near a play off or promotion

Wednesday fans erase bad years from their memories instantly that's why they think the 91 league Cup win was recent they've forgotten all of the 3 relegation to div 3 this century

Not us though we lap up defeats and remember every single one ...why God knows

Don't try to apply logic to it and it's fine.

Some people just expect the worst and anything better is a bonus. I take this approach with the Blades. Pretty sad that I need to do this at 38 years old as there are many more important things in life than whether we do well or not, however it's football, something that defies logic and rationality for an awful lot of people.

If we go up I'll enjoy the promotion and the excitement of being a PL team again, but then I'll start expecting us to get pumped every week. Stupid really, I should take up tiddly winks or chess.

The main objective is to go up (obviously) and I fully expect us to come straight back down unless there is a sustantial injection of wonga to improve the squad significantly.

What's important for me is that the club should be financially well off if we were to come straight back down.

Yoyoing is not such a bad thing imo

UTBlades

Just don't lose. That will do me, couldn't care less if every game from here on in was 0-0 or 1-0 to us.

I'd sooner Burnley kept on winning if it means they beat the teams coming up behind us, they've still got to play Blackburn and Middlesbrough.

If they lose to Cardiff, Rotherham etc then all the better if we're that bothered about winning the title but frankly as long as we go up without having to go through the play offs, the end result is still the same whether you finish first or second.

Strange take for me.

The aim is to win as many games as possible and get as many points as possible.

Nothing more, nothing less.

The pre-match team talk isn't going to be let's make sure we at least match Boro's result.

Yeah seems Boro have become the be all and end all for some. Never mind the pack is separated by so little points, Blackburn are as much threat as Boro.

Catching 12 points up is easy peasy. Ask Blades11
A difficult task for Boro no doubts but doable, 4 points plus a game in hand as long as you don’t lose it and we have better momentum. You Blades know deep down your not home dry yet

For me Heckys first team has not been firing on all cylinders since before World Cup. And as much as Lowe and Bogle are supposed to be the best choices the team keeps losing playing them.
Berge turns a performance on one in every 6 games. Egan a star one game and a villain for next 3. iliman is too exposed and is marked out and Bash is hit and miss plus Fleck, Norwood and Mcburnie.
Basically the first team is not good enough but we have a strength that mostly wins through.
But playing a hybrid young mix like Wednesday night without Mcburnie to start meant team had to play to feet quick instead of usual Egan or Norwood punt to the forward. Much more entertaining to watch and effective.
So introduce more youngsters in the middle and upfront is my view and drop the likely out of contract crew who effectively are playing themselves out of team if promoted.

I really wanted us to chase down Burnley too. But I simply can’t see where we’re gonna get that sort of form from. If we do go up in second, it’ll be an absolute bum squeaker.
We could do with Fergie managing us for teh remainig games!

Even if we lose Tuesday, you've still got to win two games when we lose and match the rest. Games are running out. Momentum or not its still not easy for you guys.

Agree, don’t think people realise how this club is stood on the precipice of disaster.

We desperately need to be promoted this season otherwise we could easily become another Portsmouth or Derby.

I don't think many people realize the gravity of the situation if we don't get promoted tbh.

Even happy clapper Darren Smith says best case scenario is midtable mediocrity.. but hinting more at it being a relegation scrap.
