Where ever we finish now this season we have to stick with Clough, the ridiculous conveyer belt of managers since Warnock has made us a laughing stock, (although I firmly belive Weir had to go as it was a clear as the day is long that he was never going to be a manager)

Whatever this season now delivers we have got to give this bloke at least 4 seasons to get it right.

Sorry fella, but not a chance. That's lack of track record for you. If we aren't promoted next season, it'd the sack at the end if it. I'd give a really proven manager 4 years and accept that we must be shit. I would not allow a 20th year to prove that the previous 19 didn't count. That would be madness.

Yes, certainly with HRH on board, 4 years to get out of this league is far too long. If, however, he gets us up to the Championship by the end of next, 4 more years to the Prem would be reasonable.

Well if and for me it's still "if" big transfer funds are available then I agree, otherwise we need time to build. I don't think some people realise what a low base we are at with this squad, Danny Wilson over achieved in his second season getting us near the play offs, and let's face it Ched, Quinn and Williamson were the key men getting us to third place in his first season.

Yes, spot on. The championship is a different beast all together. Unless, of course, we saw relatively huge spending, which I am bot expecting.

There IS no money to spend, don't people listen to the press conferences?

The only bit that stuck in my mind was McCabe saying there was money to spend. What did I miss?

McCabe did say there was money to spend but not for the sake of spending it. In other words he wont allow it to be wasted

But isn't that a pointless comment? I mean, even Roman Abramovich wouldn't sit there and say "Fuck it, I've bags of cash, he can sign any old cripple he likes"

There 's an interesting article on the Uk polling report site where they say you can tell in a statement is meaningless if no-one would agree with its opposite. Thus if an education minister says "our policy is to have top class schools", you know its nonsense as no-one is in favour of bottom class schools.

Usually, not a bad tactic but when Cameron says something like, "We want to govern in the interests of all.", it does rather fall down.

Nonsense. If Clough doesn't get us winning, he deserves the sack just like anybody else.
Nobody expects to suddenly win every game, but he can't just lose every game like Weir did either,
Every manager is supposed to be longterm, if it doesn't work then you have no choice but to move on yet again.

Fully agree and I am starting to like your posts more !

'Game changing' is what I read.

As I understand it the debt will be written off?
We have an established manager with 15 years experience from the loins of one of the best ever?

Based on following The Blades for all these years that's game changing in my eyes.

Last time we were here was promotion to the prem and their money coming in with a long standing manager.

Lets hope we don't make another mess of it.

I'm of the opinion that sometimes clubs and managers just suit each other , it's not scientific just luck . If you roll the dice enough times once in a while you,ll get lucky and things just work. Whilst there's nothing on the cough cv that fills me with expectation we can but hope this time we've got it right as I'd describe clough as no more than capable
If not then then I suspect there's something wrong at the club at senior level in terms of vision, leadership and direction . Time will tell
