We managed to get a point with a one man midfield (and Paul Thirlwell)?

Correct Tyler Durden - almost thirteen years ago was Billy's debut in a Blades shirt. We scored first, they equalised, we were chasing a winner. Warnock shoved 18-year-old rookie Billy on at the death. He came on for Thirlwell.
.

Also I have just realised that i’m Older than a player who was on his 5th club when playing for us in 2004.

Definitely making me feel old now. Time for another whiskey.

18k attendance as well, we were getting similar to that in League One!

Paul Shaw. The poor mans Dennis Bergkamp.

Signed by Warnock who then fell out with him from minute one!

He joined the long list of players who NW managed to fall out with for no apparent reason (Pesch, Windass, Hayles, Horsefield, Unsworth).

I don't think that was true, Warnock gave him a lot of first team action in 2004/5

Just compare the quality in that Warnock midfield to our current one.

There ladies and gentleman is the difference in style. One team lined up to “gerrit forrad”, the other to play teams off the park.

Warnock – Manager, not Coach.

Liddell and Shaw – Midfielders, not Strikers.

Thirlwell – should be labelled “Schrödinger’s Footballer”, due to his unique ability to exist on a football pitch and yet simultaneously not exist.

I do like that fact that young Billy was part of that squad, learning his trade with the likes of with Kozzie, A Quinn, Bromby, Morgs, Kenny and Geary. That was the season when we beat West Ham and Villa in the FA Cup before going out to Arsenal after a replay. The stats only give Billy two league appearances, though he may have come on in a couple of cup games too. At the end of the season he went on loan to Rushden and Diamonds, and missed our promotion and PL adventure.

Think he's still playing for Carlisle isn't he?
