I was in a taxi in Liverpool on my way to catch a boat early morning on the Wirral. I thought I'd try a different conversation than "been busy" and "how long have you been on". So I asked which team he supported. "I'm a blue" he answered. They prefer colours to knicknames in Merseyside. So I asked about Jags. He went into this spiel about how some Blade had told him, before he went to Everton, that we have this player (Jags) and that if he came over to a club like Everton he could really become something.
Either the Scouse taxi driver was living up the stereotype of lying / and essentially making out Everton to be a super-club and therefore this massive entity that everyone wants to join, or some Blade actually suggested that our best player whilst in the Prem should leave to go to the lesser of the two Merseyside clubs in terms of size to better himself.
Are there any Blades out there that would suggest selling our best player to better himself at the detriment to the Blades. All the ones I've spoken to that would are listed below.

It was McCabe (you should have asked the taxi driver if the person said "Hey" a lot) ;)

I once had to help out some old geezer who wanted to open a bank account for his dog.
Well, I got a bit stuck for small talk and so I inadvertently mentioned that we had the best pair of right backs outside the top flight.
I’m beginning to wonder now if he wasn’t the eccentric geriatric he appeared to be!?

I work with a Blue Nose and, as much as I like him and get on with him, he's one of the bitterest football fans I know. He absolutely resents Liverpool FC and you can never talk about football in general with him without him twisting the conversation round to Everton. I always take great delight in pointing out to him what a shit tip Goodison Park is but he thinks it's the greatest ground for atmosphere in the country. They do say love is blind....

It never ceases to amaze me that. I have both Liverpool and Everton fans as friends, or red or blues, or kopshites and bitters. But I find that when Everton win and Liverpool lose my twitter, facebook feed is covered with comments but when Liverpool win and Everton dont then you get nothing from Liverpool fans. Saying that this week has been very interesting. Alot of blues were a little gobby before tuesday night, surprisingly they are quiet now.

Yeah, watched the highlights on MoTD and two things struck me. One is that Jags is definitely on the wane and would be an embarrasment in the World Cup.
The other is that, in a match Liverpool should have won by about seven clear goals, the MoTD possession stats show 39%/61% in favour of Everton:rolleyes:

Having watched it. Everton had more possession, passed the ball more but ultimately, Liverpool did more with it.

Jagielka was playing with an injury which will have had an effect.

Okay found the culprit, was this taxi driver a pasty little bloke who had severe mushroom syndrome?

When I lived over there around the late nineties to 2000 it was definitely a "were/was" city. They (Scousers) used to drone on stating "Liverpool were the best team in Europe", "the Beatles were the biggest band in the world" "The Mersey was the busiest port in the UK". That mixed in with the pathetic humour. It was based on a play on words that was popular in the sixties. 'A guy who worked in a clothing warehouse known as the "Diesel fitter" he used to check all the clothes and rob any that his wife could wear saying "ah Dees'l Fit er".' Yeah hilarious I know.
But at least they are a now city again with phenomenal restaurants and squares and an Arena. All thanks to the city of culture money. Its a really good place. If the Scousers can embrace that it would be more interesting to speak to them.

The Kyles weren't too clever last night either.

"I hate Nerys Hughes"
I'm pretty sure I once watched a low budget pro celebrity sport programme where nerys Hughes was partnered by Eddie Colquhoun. I'm sure it was a Friday about 7 pm sometime in the 70's.
Anyone any recollection of this ?? .

Indoor League hosted by Freddie Trueman?

It was a pro-celebrity coaching show. Eddie taught Nerys all about heading.

It didn't get a second series.
