I noticed the "If you hate Sheffield Wednesday clap your hands" chant was met with clapping from 4 sides of the stadium. Nice that their arrogance is noted far wider than Sheffield and south Barnsley.

Fair play to the Rochdale fans for stopping until the end.

I've just received this tweet from a friend who is a Rochdale fan : "strangeley enjoyable game last night despite it pretty much sending us down! great set of fans youve got and played some nice stuff"

From the link:
'
Big thumbs up for the away fans put Wednesday to shame!'
'
Credit to Sheff Utd players and fans for a good natured match'
'
Fantastic away fans, so well done to the Blades and I hope they do go up.'

:)

I know we've spoken at length about how we play has softened a lot of traditional attitudes towards us, but I think the fans have also played a huge part in our rebranding. It's been an absolute pleasure to go on the road this season being part of huge, vocal followings that have been welcomed and left a good impression on so many grounds.

Didn't think my Rochdale accent impression was that good tbh, but seems I was wrong...

did you manage to get a ticket for whoever last night?
I'll let him fill in the full details in his own time, but he was invited, at no cost, into one of the Exec Boxes Boo.

"Glad posters mentioned the Sheffield Utd fans, there support was vocal and they didnt resort to taunting us about our upcoming relegation instead they supported their team throughout.

The complete opposite of their rivals from the other half of the city, i hope Utd go up they are the best team i have seen this season, even though they did take their foot off the gas in the second half."

"Great fans - much better than Wednesday's. I agree they were the best side I have seen at Spotland this season and good luck to them as they return to the Championship next season. Probably won't be playing them again for a long time!"

a fine indictment of our fans and the other half of the city should feel shamed.
Proud that our supporters as well as the team are gaining plaudits everywhere we go (reminds me of an old song sang on shoreham...Everywhere we go..people wanna know...who we are, shall we tell'em..we are the Blades)
a season to remember definately.

I enjoyed last nights match not just because of the scoreline but the atmosphere too. Rochdale were a credit to their club, working hard for the whole match and the banter between fans was really enjoyable. Favorite moment though has the be the child pitch invader from two rows in front of me.

I wish Rochdale all the best next season and a speedy return to League 1. A great club with great fans.

Heh, that little kid was great. Also I think Simmo went over to his little lad at the end, that was a nice scene.

Nothing but praise from the Rochdale fans from me. They were in good spirits and almost all stayed to the end. Other than a few dickhead kids on my row, they didn't get any unwarranted abuse from Blades, it was great all around.

This seems to have been the case all season. Surprisingly fans of rival teams have warmed to us and our new found style of play, while at the same time they have realised a distinct sense of dislike towards the grunters. I know of Chartlon, Hartlepool, Blackpool and now Rochdale, who have dismissed the pigs and their "we are mighty and massive" attitude.

Yeh that was nice. I walked to the ground with Simmo's family (although I didn't realise at the time that it was his family until I saw that at the end of the game!)

Someone suggested last night's game was moved because of wendy fans' behaviour last year? Well done to the travelling Blades who showed we're better than them on and off the pitch.

Agree totally with this. I, for one, have emerged from several years of not enjoying it anymore to be re-born as a supporter and, as a group, I think we've got our humour back (something I've always thought set us apart from many).

Our style (and at last we can call it style) has brought out the best in all of us and the atmosphere has changed incredibly. It isn't just the winning (we won a lot of really dire games under hoofy) but the whole package that has made this a season of re-birth. Long may it continue.

Double post due to bogus "server didn't respond in time" message. Pah!
