What is happening to our club..

Performance not acceptable or good enough ( again ) . For once we cannot blame McCabe or the board for lack of investment or commitment .

Is Clough and his staff going to get us in the play offs , never mind winning them .Starting to wonder.

Is Collins really injured , as he cannot do any worst.

It sounded like a better performance going forward but our deficiencies at the back seem to only get worse.

For anyone who went, did Turner actually put the ball in his own net or was it a foul?

Don't get it. Dodgy at the back but I thought we played well today. Created good chances first and second half. Wonder goal from Freeman. Davies was outstanding.

The Blades are going up.

Foul must have been before he put it into his own net . Lucky let off imo.

Was this being sung at the end by blades?

Yes.

Some were clapping, some booing, some singing "What the fucking hell was that?"

I wasn't there, and am using the Forum to find out what the actual performance was like.. I know I shall have to wait, but was it a performance worth clapping, booing or singing "WTFHWT"? I say performance, rather than overall form, etc, just today's match in isolation.

From what I can gather it sounds as though we actually played ok but that's not really good enough when you look at the bigger picture unfortunately. It's so disappointing that we're seemingly sleepwalking towards the end of the season - we seem to be missing a spark and some leaders.

I only listened to it, but first half sounded better. Actually creating, albeit missing, chances and players getting forward. Davis seemed to have a decent game. Second half sounded like we gradually reverted to our normal poor sideways play. Only threat from Murphy. Hardly heard Coutts mentioned.

We could and should have scored more then it seems we got away with one where Turner spilled the ball into his own net and they could easily have scored another. Misses at both ends but we seemed to be the better team without dominating throughout.

The game itself was a mixture. Thought we actually played a lot better for most of the first half (defending for the goal and a short spell afterwards apart).

Our two biggest problems for me today (there were a number) was that Murphy either wasn't on it or was stopped from playing and that we simply don't have the killer instinct to force goals from good possession/pressure.

Can't fathom this squad out. A handful of individuals who wouldn't look out of place in championship sides, most would walk into any league one team. I've seen them play top premiership teams off the park more than once. I don't think there commitment, work rate or attitude is lacking either.

I think we lack a nasty streak at times but that, in itself, doesn't explain the constant mediocrity we dish up against poor teams.

I thought we lacked goals, we added them and now we seem to be shipping them at the other end - from on extreme to the other.

Frustrating as hell.

I wasn't there. But it sounded like the first half was an improvement on recent games (not hard I know). But in the 2nd half we seemed to revert to the negative "happy with a point / let's keep it tight" tripe that has become Clough's hallmark.

This is L1 ffs - how about trying to win a game?

As for the reaction afterwards, the "wtf" chants sounded very loud to me. Completely understandable as far as I am concerned.

I think we did well to stop McSheffrey and Madden scoring against us like they normally do..

Turner dropping it into his own net was cringeworthy.

We don't win 50/50's anymore. I've only been watching us for 20 years but i've never known a Blades side be as soft as this one. Doyle and at times Harris and Davies aside there's just no battle in there when the chips are down.

The performance from the players merited that chant. The football is unbelievably dull, we've now started lumping it forward and we had absolutely no desire to win that game in the second half!

Strongly disagree with this.

Davies got on the and of a good number of longer balls. We created two good chances for Holt, Brayford took his air shot, and Davies (again) worked himself a good shot that went close.

Elsewhere in this thread the team are criticised for playing boring sideways football *and* for hoofing it forwards.

If that chant at the end was directed at the team I'm amazed.

We were very dodgy at the back but over the game we created a number of good chances. If we keep that up, tighten up at the back, and get something on Tuesday then we could well get 7 or even 9 points from the three home games. And someone could get a spanking.

And I can see us getting through the play-offs.

The big difference was Davies who gained and retained possession. Away at Rochdale, say, we lumped the ball up towards Done who stood no chance. Today we had a viable out ball.

We can't create that much and not score over a number of games.

Nigel? Is that you?

Nigel? Is that you?

But is any of it untrue?

Turner throwing the ball into his own net was as bad as I've seen. McEveley keeps getting under the ball, and the Beard dives in.

There could be a few 3-2s in the coming weeks.

*And* that looked like a very clear penalty in the second half when <Blade> was tripped in the corner of their box.

And Turner made a pretty good save *at his near post*.

Still every time the ball is in our half I'm on the edge of my seat. And every dead ball feels like a penalty.
