What results do we want today?

Yes I know that we can’t be relying on others, and ultimately we probably need 8 or 9 more wins to stand a chance of staying up. But..... there are two big games taking place today.

Newcastle vs Southampton
Burnley v Brighton

We obviously need the Toon to lose, but given how fragile the Saints are after being leathered 9-0 in midweek how likely is it that they’ll do us a favour?

Up until a week ago, many thought Brighton were our most realistic target. Not any more after them beating Spurs and Liverpool! So on that basis, do we want them to beat Burnley? And if they do, are Burnley then catchable?

Yes, we’ve got to get the points ourselves, but we need a lot of luck from others too. I just hope things go in our favour today to give us a lift before Chelsea.
 



For me Brighton will have too much as they have enough quality to pick up the odd win here and there. Newcastle, if any, are surely the worst of those that could get dragged in. Still fancy Burnley to put a mini run or two together like they do every year.
 
Ideally Newcastle and Fulham to lose and Brighton and Burnley to draw. We don’t really want any of those four picking up 3 points considering we’re unlikely to bridge the gap at all this weekend.
 
I'd say Burnley and Newcastle to lose. When we beat Chelsea tomorrow, the gap would be 8 points, and we still have them both to play
 
we play them both as the final 2. Need to be within 3 points before we play them both tbh

Honestly Bunrley v Brighton is fine as long as Burnley do not get all 3 points.

I reckon every premier league team would have wanted to play Southampton this weekend, with their injury and suspension problems - although at least their centre half had his red card recinded.
 
defeats for newcastle and burnley and can see brighton finishing mid table they gave liverpool loads of problems in midweek

I hadn't realised one of the Southampton red cards had been rescinded.
Glad for the player and partly for the club, but God what a mockery it makes of the game when thinking of all the implications of taking that extra player off has on the game and consequent score, not to mention the ignominy of carrying that score line into history.
FA indicate there is no bias towards certain clubs, the f&$ing, L"()^g, shi!%^ng, barstewards there a bunch of absolute W&N£^RS.
Want them all to lose except if they are playing on another then a draw, every time.

It was the 86th minute & 7-0 when the player who's red card has been rescinded was sent off. So I'm not sure it made that much of a difference in this case

Edit that post aged well! Looks like Southampton have got most of their players back, so hopefully a Newcastle defeat
 
Personally I've just backed Burnley at 14/5 ..decent price
I think we realistically need Newcastle to get beat they are the ones we need to get in sights
 
I'd like to see Millwall, Forest and SD Huesca win.

It'll make the same difference to our season as any combination of Premier League results will.
 
I wonder if we ought to offer our services out as some kind of good luck charm. The moment we need a team to start a run of losses, they somehow find an amazing streak of form or their next run of opponents all suddenly implode.

I hope Southampton make mistakes like that when we pay them. Bloody hell!
