What is wrong with John Fleck?

A permanent place for Fleck, then? Sharp as well, it would seem from the juvenile wailing about him being ‘dropped’ yesterday.

If you’re levelling the juvenile wailing comment at me, I think it’s misdirected, as I believe the most I said was that yesterday’s selection was a gamble – it still was incidentally, it might not have paid off, but it was one that delightfully did and now highlights a greater depth that we could have relied on previously.

Fleck’s apparently poor form has at any rate been over-exaggerated. Yes he had a dip, but prior to yesterday he’s had a good run of games – his form didn’t suddenly switch back on yesterday. You often talk about the need for Wilder to resist the calls about who to pick and drop – I’m pleased that Wilder resisted the call to drop Fleck, as we’ve seen the benefits of that decision of late.

No. I didn’t know you’d wailed at all, even an adult wail. I wouldn’t expect ‘juvenile’ from you. They identify themselves.

Every selection is a gamble. Picking the same team for a third game in eight days would have been a gamble.

Fleck didn’t have a dip. He had a series of games where he was at best anonymous and at worst a liability. I won’t repeat the details of how poor he was yet again. It was self-evident, anyway. People see what they want to see in S2, rather like the Emperor’s new clothes.

He was excellent yesterday. Only the Goal Machine (and there’s some embarrassing, sanctimonious Bladey Bollocks about him on another thread, but I digress) performed better.

Fleck hasn’t performed as badly as Pinchy and others have pointed out. It’s as clear as day that he’s been told different instructions in different games. Yesterday for example was the licence to do whatever he wanted against an underperforming team in the division, a role in which he always looks his best, in the so called tougher fixtures Wilder has obviously instructed him to hold back a bit, not get forward as much, a role in which he doesn’t do as good but he’s had to do it nonetheless and it’s helped with our results whilst at the same time not getting the best out of Fleck.

Let’s get one thing straight, if Fleck wasn’t doing as he was told then ‘Tufty’ or Wilder as I prefer to call him would ‘drop’ him, no doubt about it so let’s not start painting things that aren’t there. Fleck knows his job and will only do what Wilder tells him to do.

Noise and nonsense! ;)
