What does the future hold ?

Not just having a moan because we lost to a very good Wolves side last night, but how long can football/sport in general carry on without spectators.
It is killing the game and will dampen the appetite of many, to ever return. Surely this ‘carry on’ is just not sustainable and clubs will go to the wall in increasing numbers. So sad we can’t fully enjoy the best Blades team for 48 years.

We are lucky enough to be in the elite club where TV revenue will keep us ticking along nicely. Ok overall income is down, but as most clubs have shown, this can be managed by spending less in the transfer market. Championship clubs will suffer. Before all this shit many of them were way over stretched trying to get to the promised land. With players on big money contracts the lack of gate receipts etc has got to hurt. Some lower league teams will find the battle to stay afloat without gate income simply too much to ask. Sadly, I can see some clubs going under

National safety comes before entertainment. In the grand scheme of things football doesn't matter. If it disappeared tomorrow the world would not end and people would find something else to do or watch. Until the majority of people learn to distance properly to keep the Covid numbers down, which isn't helped by inept government guidance and stupidity in allowing pubs to open again, then the stadiums will remain closed for a good while yet.

Not having fans in the ground is not why we lost or played badly towards the end of last season. Other teams seem to be managing including last night's opponents.

With all the new covid rules this week , that interestingly enough don't apply to pheasant shooting parties, and with winter coming (Jon snow) I can't see fans being allowed back until next year, which is such a shame, and let's just hope we don't go into lockdown again as the result will be many smaller clubs in the lower leagues( the pigs) may go out of business

It's an industry that contributes large amounts to the tax coffers, as does the pub trade. Both employ large amounts of people, many on averages wages.

All of what you say is correct Sono, however, would you not agree we are a club that thrives on support and supporters who in turn equally thrive on honesty and commitment from boardroom down to the pitch, pre Covid this was demonstrated every week home and away.
Now this has been taken away from us it has become difficult, we are not a team of superstars, thank God. We are Blades we are the twelfth man and CW and the team know it and appreciate it. In Wilder we trust, rant over, thanks

I agree with the point that the appetite for the game is waning. In 60 odd years of being a Blade and not being able to eat my tea after a loss, i suddenly find myself not too arsed about us losing games. Watching a game with no fans on t.v is entertainless (a new word?) and so dull.
Think i'm losing my mojo.
