Up in the hills!
From looking at the fixture list, October is going to be the toughest month of this campaign. 4 home games against Chorlton, Bacon FC, Those That Were Wimbledon and Exeter Shitty, plus 2 away at PNE and LO. Of the 4 home games, 3 look pretty tough affairs ( no disrespect to Exeter, who will probably turn us over now I've said that) and the away trip to PNE will be tricky as I expect them to be there or there abouts at the end of the season.
I think that if we can come out of October with 10+ points under our belts, it will have been a great month 12+ will be a bonus. Of course, having said that, I'd settle for 3, if that 3 came from one certain match that I'm hoping we win by at least 5 goals!! COYRAWW!!

would rather lose to the swine and win the other 5. We are going for promotion 3 points from 18 is not the way to get it even if it is against them. Thats how they think. 2 wins against us is a good season for them

That's a very good point Stanny. I think I wrote this with my heart rather than my head, and totally agree. I still think 10+ points would be a good haul from October, but now on reflection, I'd probably take 2 defeats against them if it meant we got promotion and they remained where they are. Well maybe 1 defeat and a draw!

I guess it depends who we lose to.

If we beat Charlton, PNE and MK Dons, 9 points is probably sufficient.

If we don`t lose to any of them, 10 or 11 is sufficient.

Lose one or two of them, and we probably need to win all the others.

I did the BBC predictor the other day up to the end of October. It is an extremely tough month and I fully expect us to drop off the pace a little bit. I expect us to drop to 3rd, off the pace but still in touch.

Its fine picking up decent and big wins v Bury, Colchester etc, this will stand us in good stead later in the season when GD and GF mean a lot more, but I think we might struggle a little with teams like the Pigs, Charlton, Milton Keynes. I don't mean to sound negative, but there seems to be a massive divide in class in this division.

v Bury we won at an absolute canter, great for the fans and confidence etc, but it was like watching a friendly game. I did enjoy it, but Bury are not representative of the whole division. I think the top 8(ish) are worlds apart from the rest of the league.

Wednesday will be a different game to Charlton and Milton Keynes. It'll be more of a battle.

If we go about October in a business like manner, remain professional and disciplined then we shouldnt have a lot to worry about.

Charlton on 1st Oct will set the tone for the month

Tough month October and a good test for us. Without taking into account the Wednesday game I think we will get the 10 points. I can see us drawing with Charlton, losing at Preston (never seem to get anything at Deepdale!!!) and then beating Orient, MK Dons & Exeter. If we can keep everyone fit and playing as well as we are then I think that is achievable.

This is the key for me. I have been really impressed with the professionality so far. We have defended solidly, given teams little time on the ball through hassling and harrying and cut out the individual mistakes. However we did not do these against Huddersfield. Or was it the gulf in class? Colchester had chances to equalise last week but fluffed them. Huddersfield got a sniff and the game was over. I will be interested to see how robust our defence is against the bigger teams. Of course luck will come into it, but I think we have every chance. Confidence is high and we have been playing pretty well. We're also at home for 3 of the big games and hence we have an advantage. It's a real tough month. MK Dons, Charlton and Preston are obviously better than most in the division. My personal opinion is that Huddersfield are the stand out candidates and that us, Preston, Charlton and MK Dons are of a similar standard. The next month will be very interesting.

Would I take 10 points if you offered them now? Probably. But, as SellyOak points out, it depends who we get results against.

Professionalism has been Wilsons biggest success so far. But it won't mean anything if we STILL can't win the big games.
