Doing the club's job for them. Still no word from our leader.

Probably for the best at the moment, a lot of fans are entrenched in their views that it is all his fault so would not listen to anything he says with an open mind. Another thing that is not helpful is the social media posts from on one side Jim Phipps and the other side Wilders mate Wit. Both are just pouring more petrol onto the fire. I see fault on both sides it is hard to stick to the plan in the middle of a global pandemic but it must rankle that while the upgrade of the training facility is put on hold the owner can find £2m to buy a tinpot French club.

The lack of improvements to the training ground is what wrankles me.

That should have been number 1 on the list of things to do as soon as we got promoted. I know we needed to bring in players and we have done (spe t more than I expected us to do in transfer fees) but the training ground improvements have been needed for a long time and would have been a legacy for our club and an asset for future players and managers to use. It also helps the club attract future players when they are potentially signing for us.

If money is a problem I'd go as far as to say we should look to sell Berge for as much as we can, use some of that money to reinvest in the team (2 x players oin midfield at least) and use a good chunk of that money on the training ground improvement costs. Get the training ground improvements done ASAP please Utd it will really help us in the long run. Wilder knew this hence why he was so keen for this to happen.

It's a difficult one for Phipps and Wit (sounds like a t.v show that), they both want to come across as Blades while defending their mate and taking shots at their opposites. (I'd say Wit is guilty of this more than Jim).

Wit seems to be something of an unofficial mouthpiece/lapdog for CW while Jim worked for HRH (not sure if he still does). I know more about Jim Phipps than I do "Wit", who is he, is he noting more than a mate of CW who drip feeds info out as and when required or is there something more to this person?

If I had to take a stance on either I'd say I'm leaning more towards Jim and HRH, Jim at least posts with reasoning and substance behind him. Wit just pipes up, say's a sentence then fucks off until required to defend his mate again. Wit commented on a comment I made on Twitter, saying something along the lines of CW brought in over 300m to the club in response to me saying has CW not been backed sufficiently? I responded but never got anything back from him, at least Jim has an actual conversation with people, explains his reasoning etc..

You do have to ask if Shirecliffe is the best site for a training ground, should we continue to put money into a place that with never be up to Cat one standard. It might be better to start afresh on the old Norton aerodrome.

Lots of debate about how poor our training facilities are. I don’t get that and I’m happy to be instructed otherwise but how much technology is needed to practise kicking a ball and rehearsing set pieces? There’s a gym for conditioning and a physio room for treatment. Media suites to watch games and analyse opposition. Other than providing a showcase facility I can’t see how a state of the art facility would make much difference. Like I said, I’m all ears as to how it would improve us and maybe my opinion is based on old fashioned thinking?

Watched this end to end last night. Thank you for producing these and the matchday watchalongs. It resembles something like sitting next to a random bloke at the match, who likes to offer his opinion.

I think it’s due to the current building being old and falling apart. Also, we don’t have enough training pitches for all playing staff at the club. Such as the U23’s etc.

Seems like the current setup is too small and outdated for modern football.

Norton Aerodrome. My neck of the woods. I grew up nearby in Hemsworth, off Constable Road.

Have to say also, it is ideally placed with decent road routes to the south and west of Sheffield where the majority of players will live. It's also at the 'right end of Sheffield' and well away from the stench and disease not far away at the shit-tip that is Hillsborough.

Spent many a happy day on that derelict site (Norton, not Hillsborough). Last time I was on it though was about ten of us careering about on a nicked Honda monkey bike (nowt to do wi' me, judge).

I even recall it being an active RAF base with a fighter jet parked at the main gate.

Great effort Pommps, good to put a face and a name to a non de plume 😊

PS, if you're looking for a new image, there's a rumour that Desso are moving into hair technology;)

The good news is that someone at the club says they're gonna hook pommpey up with something suitable.

Bad news is that it's Bladesballer

That's great to hear. It's what I said I wanted to achieve when Nick kindly asked me to be part of the channel.

Dunno what people were expecting.

It's not exactly 'My take ... ' (although I have been asked to do a 'Fans React' for the game at Bellend Road)

Didn't know if you were camping it up for the camera or if it's normal?

Only kidding, you came across well. Look forward to hearing some more.

We will be doing more of these fans forums as they have been very popular. If you would like to feature in one please just DM me.

Ah the new facilities would allow them to learn to shoot outside the area from time to time instead of endless 'Wilderball' around the perimeter to be blocked, lose possession or a Lunny or McB shot to the corner flag.

We are light years behind and Swansea and Burnley are not top Premier league clubs, Our hydro therapy suite is a leaking roof.

Good to see the kids did not play this shit the other night.
They had attacking intent for a start.

A new state of the art training facility has got to be a priority if we are going to attract top players to the club.
But I agree that the site at Norton should be developed rather than spend money on Shirecliffe, as it’s a more suitable location and provides a much larger area of land for both the academy, first team requirements and future development.

I’ve no idea about the cost but surely it wouldn’t exceed £15m which would be a fitting legacy to the Wilders era. With planning permission Shirecliffe itself must be worth several million, which would help recoup the outlay.
In terms of value for money, I think it would be far and away the best investment the club has made in the last two seasons, accepting of course, that that’s a pretty low bar. 😉
