What can we do

Being a football fan is a participation sport. This idea, I feel has been lost a little in the modern game. We seem happy to go along, sit and watch then get home and be vocal behind our keyboards on sites like this. (I’m not knocking this site I do enjoy it).

What can we do on Saturday to create an atmosphere that the players and the club deserve? Something that singles it out from other games. Balloons, ticker tape, bog roll lol, Vuvuzela‘s, smoke bombs, flare’s, (Not sure about those two) flags, obviously singing.

We the fans have a part to play so bring something, do something and let’s get the Lane jumping.
 

Saw something very effective for creating some atmosphere at a league game in Slovakia a few years back. One guy had a megaphone and sang (shouted) the first line of each song. There was only a couple of hundred behind the goal but it was all synchronised and pretty impressive.
Imagine 4 or 5 thousand on the kop singing in unison? (Never get everyone to join in). Shouldn't be difficult to arrange with the club's support.
Any volunteers to be the leader?.
Think this would set us apart from any English club and would give the players a huge boost.
Thoughts?.

No, no and a thousand times no. We would get the piss ripped out of us forever.

That’s why the atmosphere in England is better than places like Germany, Poland etc for me, as it’s spontaneous and not lead by gimmicks like microphone men.

Makes me think of the incredibly cringey Wednesday band.

Well Dortmund is definitely louder than the Emirates, and all Premier League grounds. Never been to Dortmund myself and would love to.

I meant more in terms of the way atmosphere is generated. For me, I prefer how it’s mostly spontaneous over here, rather than organised. It’d feel abit plastic and gimmicky if we had a bloke with a microphone at the front telling us all what to sing next. That’s my personal preference though.
 
Even though I’m not alone in my hatred of Norwich, the one thing they’ve got right this season is their interaction with fans to help improve atmosphere, both vocally and visually.

The club has interacted with fans to make this happen. A larger scale of the Billy Sharp flag that recently happened, if you will.

Imagine the Kop looking a red and white equivalent of that.

I agree on this. Whilst the Europeans like to get things coordinated and make it look pretty with bouncing and singing, I love the spontaneity of English football

I would genuinely hate that.
 
Anfield is often talked up as an intimidating atmosphere on 'special ' nights. The thing I take from them is that they are not quiet when they are not in possession of the ball, they actively boo each touch from the opposition until it is won back. I think that would make a difference if we could all do that.

Crackers. I went to a game between Legia Warsaw and Wisla Plock last season. Only 15k in attendance and Legia, 4-0 down to bottom of the league Wisla made more noise than I’ve ever heard at Bramall Lane or any English football ground for that matter. The maybe 500 away fans were even louder. All locked in a cage, but I was glad of it being sat about 50 feet away. Animals.

Loud as anything. As many singing as possible (know its not everyones bag), staying patient and for once cut out the groans and moans if a pass goes misplaced. Keep encouraging, no moans, even if we go a goal down or its still 0-0, keep pushing them forward. The cheers at the end of games such as Leeds, WBA, Hull, to have more of those in the game to get the team going. Leeds fans booed every pass for a while in a recent home game by the opponent. Not saying we could keep that going all the time but make it hard for Ipswich players to even hear things.

Saturday we have to just really support the team and no negativity at all. From minute one this is the game when we need everyone keeping with the team.

Trouble is, the majority of people on the Kop don’t read this forum.
 
Programmes 3 quid has a pair of Lungs , that could fill your requirements , MMRUTB , get that lad on the job . Booing the Ref was also usefull .
 
Whatever it is, it should be fan driven or at least fan designed. Liverpool's Kop is special because the fans design the flags. The club helps by facilitating them in having the flags and storing them etc. Leicester,C helsea, Fulham, Norwich etc look plastic because the club puts generic flags on every seat creating a superficial looking environment. If we have a singing section, or safe standing area it should be done in consultation with the fanbase.

It's up to the players to give us something to shout about :mad:
Just because in 3 seasons they've come from 11th in Division 1 to 2nd in Championship with a real chance of promotion to the Premier League doesn't mean that we should be expected to sing spontaneously.
Do they think we're supporters or something :rolleyes:

I have been told those flags on poles - the ones used at Anfield - are a no go.
 
We should all he handed a cardboard clapper as we pass through the turnstiles. That’s worked really well for Fulham this season.
