Just home from L**ds, after waiting almost an hour to get out of the car park and dropping my dad off in Barnsley on the way home. Wasn't sure which thread to post my thoughts in so if admin want to merge this with something else then go ahead :)

That was my Hillsborough. I couldn't get to the pig roast due to lack of sufficient loyalty points and a badly-timed wedding I had to attend, and tonight was what I imagine it was like at the sty. The fans were stupendous throughout, and I thought the team showed once again why we are where we are. Commitment, skill and passion throughout.

I was genuinely nervous before the match, and honestly I thought we might come unstuck with the pressure of playing for top spot, against an old enemy in front of the sky cameras...all that was put to bed inside 2 mins with Billy's goal. Despite their equaliser, apart from when they hit the post I never thought they'd beat us. That said I was happily counting down to full time and considering it a decent point until the wonderkid popped up with his first senior goal. To quote the sky bloke on the highlights..."what a time, what a place." There were people landing on me in the celebrations of his goal, but I didn't care.

Take that you dirty bastards. Take that individually to the dirty bastard who tried to break Baldock's leg, and should have walked. Take that L**ds fans who tried taking the piss after they scored, to be met with a wall of noise from the away stand. This team is special, and maybe, just maybe, is going places we never would have dreamed possible as little as 14 short months ago. The magic is back, and it's more magical than I've ever seen in my life. I didn't stop smiling the entire drive home.

"WE'RE SHEFF UNITED, WE'RE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!"

A little over a year ago, we were bottom of league one.
We now sit top of the Champoinship.
In your wildest dreams, could you ever have imagined this would happen.

Thank you Chris Wilder...

One step further...if someone had said to you, on May 8th 2016, after we closed the season with a 0-2 home defeat to Scunthorpe, to finish 11th in League 1, that in under 18 months, we would be sitting top of the Championship, having won away at Wednesday and Leeds in the process....you'd have had them sectioned.

Wilder is a miracle worker. I'm 31 years old and hero-worshipping him like I was 12.

Great ForgeBlade. Main thing about your journey and night is that you and your Dad got home safe.
You say you never stopped smiling all the way home. I think that sums it up for all of us. Walking down the street or out shopping doing the boring bits of life. Thoughts and memories of what this stunning team and management have achieved so far bring a smile and indeed a little giggle out in us all.
