Not us, but just about everybody else....

The interesting point of the article;

With West Ham still £90 million in debt, the club are also considering legal action against the solicitors who advised the previous owners in the Carlos Tevez affair.

An Upton Park insider said: "The club is suing for the £25 million the club had to pay Sheffield United. When the club pleaded guilty to Premier League charges over Tevez, for a guarantee of a fine, and not a points deduction, the solicitors didn't point out that Sheffield United could sue for £45 million.

Yeah I read that just thought it was funny after the cheats called us litigiuos. Especially as they are suing their solicitors even more funny. They will be okay if the invest in Coop bank as they will use investors money to wipe off their debt.

BTW is it Melbourne Aussie or Melbourne York?

Legally, it's a fair point.

Morally its reprehensible.

I'be asked the question before, and it is particularly pertinent given our current situation, would they have rather gone down??? Somehow I doubt it.

what i want to know is why we didnt go for the jugular and get the 45 million!

screw west ham, i hope they go down, if they do its curtains for them. what goes around......

i hope they go down,

Me too. Ive got alot of West Ham mates and used to love days out in the opubs round there but then next time we play them it will be like Baghdad without the sunshine. The only we could ever play them with some semblance of order would be in division two.

You know one thing (amongst many things) that's always irritated me about the whole mess that no-one ever mentions? Here's the length of time we've spent outside the top flight after our last 3 relegations:

4 seasons and counting
12 seasons
14 seasons

Here's West Ham's equivalent:

2 seasons
1 season
2 seasons

Relegation would have only been a temporary setback to them. They would have done what Newcastle did, especially in that terrible 2007-8 league where there was only one good team - West Brom. We on the other hand are well on our way to another decade in the second tier, and even lower probably the way things are going...

I said we would be here for atleast another decade and I think I said that even before Blackwell was appointed.

We were kind with West Ham as I think McCabe wanted some money but aslong as it didint mean he was responsable for sending another club into administration or worse.

Care to expand on that? Are you saying we shouldn`t have accepted the settlement, but gone for broke with the Tribunal ruling??

Not so sure about that. West Ham would have been knackered financially and had to sell players; Newcastle was in the hands of a private investor who wouldn't let his investment go down the pan.

Accepting the lower amount was a calculated gamble. Stick out for the full whack and WH could have gone into administration and we'd have got nothing. That and we were never guaranteed the full amount either. Could have let it drag on and still ended up with the same amount. Even with the benefit of hindsight it's still looking like the right decision.

And Bladesman, do you know tonight's lottery numbers? Your predictions appear to be pretty spot on (unfortunately).

Sheffield United successfully claimed £25 million in damages for being relegated as West Ham stayed up with the payments staggered over three years. An Upton Park insider said: "The club is suing for the £25 million the club had to pay Sheffield United.

I thought it had been revealed in our official accounts that we were due to receive a maximum of £18.1M from West Ham? Why are they still saying £25M?

"Ashton had two operations but then played more than 40 further games for the Hammers and was awarded a new five-year contract, the reason the FA are defending the claims for compensation."

How on earth can they claim compensation for Ashton under those circumstances? Lying, cheating scum!

We'd have still got every penny if West Ham had gone into admin as it's a football debt to another club.
We got £20m in the end, with about £2m taken off for legal costs if I remember correctly.

wonder what samuels will make of that.. considering all of the flak we took for taking legal action :/

It's our fault. We started the ball rolling. Took the lid off Pandora's box. Lit the fuse. Started the fire. Let the genie out the bottle. Unleashed the very forces of hell...

Like his opinion has ever mattered, as far as that prick goes, if it's out of London it's all wrong anyway!
