✍️ Chris Wilder has moved quickly to bolster United’s goalkeeping ranks for next season with the addition of Wes Foderingham on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old signs at Bramall Lane having left Glasgow Rangers at the end of May.FB_IMG_1595003837021.jpg

I’d have liked to have signed him in the championship or in league 1 but not sure he is PL quality even if he is a back up.

If Eastwood and Morre go, and Verrips is still reduced to a Tommy Dick Fingers (copyright Mrs Mousey ) role on the bench for league cup matches, and we sign laddo from Turkey then Foderingham will be a decent enough back up keeper.

Admittedly that’s a fair few “ifs”, but I can’t see Foderingham being our first choice keeper.

I'd imagine that he is coming in as a number 2 and probably Simon Moore being moved on (tbh he really needs to be looking to move on now to be a number 1 somewhere at this stage in his career).

I reckon he will be a good solid signing. We don't have a lot of money to chuck about now (as most clubs don't post covid) and be was always fairly decent from when I saw him in the Football League. Decent player. And whilst I'm not expecting anything close, I remember people being underwhelmed when we signed Alan Kelly from Preston as Simon Traceys understudy.

CW and his team obviously rate the lad. I'm pleased hes signed. Good luck lad.

The negativity around this is crazy. Excellent business in my eyes this.

Know for a fact CW is sat thinking we could be sat right until the week before the new season starts not knowing whats happening with Henderson.

Manchester United hold the cards! Never let someone control the club.

Imagine if they say he can come back
on loan then PSG come in for De Gea and they pull the rug from under our feet at short notice for the season and keep him at old Trafford.

Doesn’t matter because we’ve brought someone in.

You will not find a better keeper for what we want right now. He’ll be willing to sit on the bench, earn his place and be in a position also to step in when needed. That’s why Wilders on the touch line and all the mongs are sat at home.

Get back in your basket comes to mind!

So everybodys else who has an opinion different to you must be wrong and a ****? Great way to back up your thoughts on him. My thoughts personally is that it doesn't fill me with much excitement at all, I'd like to know who else was in for him!

Tbf, there weren't many clubs in for McGoldrick and he turned out alright.

We don't even know for sure where he will be in the pecking order. I would suggest there will be a lot of change in our goalkeeping department before the start of the new season.

I thought Verrips was the next big thing or maybe not if he can't get on the bench before Simon Moore. Foderingham was a decent keeper years back and will probably come here to be #2 so I can see one of the present keepers leaving. I would say an improvement on Moore don't know about Verrips not seen him in action.

Why's that important? Personally I cant say I was overly excited at signing Basham, Stevens or Baldock and look how that turned out.

As long as he’s not a Henderson replacement then it seems a good signing. Probably an improvement on Moore.
