Lots of threads have been bumped on here recently laughing at their or other people's predictions and views on the team that ended up winning us the league. I thought it would be interesting to see if the views of other fans on the players we brought in to help us gain promotion were accurate or not. Here is a list of the views I initially collected on the players that were part of this seasons squad .

“very embarrassed for him , sheff utd not really known as a footballing powerhouse are they
expected a little more from his ambition, like he hasnt learnt , or grateful that we saved his career after dumping from rangers for being a cunt”

Turned out to be a very embarrassing decision

He came up with another variation on his regular idea of reporting other supporters' views on a match. I figured he was excelling himself.

EDIT: now edited to show correctly. Thanks for heads up :)
Who did? Deadbat or Roygbiv.

Nice idea of how to get more hit points during the close season, from pre-existing links. Out of the box thinking, and I'll click twice on each link as a reward for your ingenuity. ;)

Thanks Roy, must have taken some time, but much appreciated as always.

Burnley fans were certainly wrong about Us being a bottom of League 1 team

Why would fleck want to go #sufc they play the hit and hope football. he’s better than that!!”

Coventry fans are stupid they really are.

Roy

I read most of these at the time you posted them, but it is hilarious reading them all together.

Only JOC and Jake Wright seem to get universal praise. The rest of them are very mixed and especially where the fans of the other clubs knew who they were moving to.

Absolute gems from the seatsmashers about Sharp who apparently last scored 10 years ago and is 'finished' as a striker.

The icing on the icing was the number of "they can bugger off and there's no chance of the Blunts getting promoted with player X" type comments.

'He who laughs last' and all that......

After our 6 yr detour in league 1, i have gone a complete 180 on players because i used to like players id heard with repuation from other clubs yet when you think of our time in league the majority of players that have been fantastic for us i had never heard of, but the biggest disapointments are ones that thought were great signings mentioning no names hammond although i would say sharp, clarke & moore are the repuation expections

So Cynical. :fattwat:

Someone knows their onions at Weeds re: Sharp:

“league one and with wingers he will be banging them in”

As with any 'view-from' there's a mixed set of comments in there. However, if you're only going to read one of these today, read the Coventry ones about Fleck. I remember reading this the first time around when he signed, but reading them again now in context of our finishing positions, they are absolutely HILARIOUS!

So many amazing lines from that one

“What will be great if we get promoted and SUFC don`t"

“We have been carrying him"

“Sideways move"

The Jake Wright one's pretty telling.

Lots of respect for someone who was a bit of a club legend. But loads of "Jake is a good league 2 centre back, league 1 not so sure”-type comments in there too.

There again, bet loads of us wouldn't necessarily have disagreed at the time. He was hardly seen as that inspiring a signing.

But, of course, inspiring he most definitely has been.

Cheers Roygbiv

I'd read most of them at the time, but it's brilliant going through them again knowing what we know now.

Special mention has to go to those Coventry fans though, I feel I need to get a few of those quotes printed on t-shirts and the like :)

"to be honest hes too good for league one but a poor championship player mid table league 1 is about right for him at the moment.”
So lets get that straight. He's too good for league one, but not good enough for the Championship and therefore his natural ability is suited to League one somewhere around mid table.o_O
Whoever this dopey Truffle Hunter is I hope he is allowed nowhere near a Polling Booth on June 8th. Phook me.

same with oxford fans saying that he wasnt good enough for oxford & more L2/conference CB level. yet he has been 1 of main defensive lynchpins in a title winning team, which 3rd tier dominance is only matched by wolves in last decade
