We're back on track

I'd be interested to see if 'normal service will be resumed'. Before Coutts' injury, we were the best team in the Championship, sitting in 1st and there were enough games played to justify that tag.

For all their new Man City delusions, Wolves got soundly beaten at the Lane and they have proved to be runaway leaders now - kid all you like about the sending off, but we were in the ascendancy before that and they went down to 10 preventing a probable goal. Now they are hitting their own rocky patch as some of their foreign stars don't perform so well in these arctic conditions!

Apart from Cardiff away and Boro which were in the initial finding our feet phase, there are no teams we cannot look back on and say we were not the best team. Even defeats like Norwich, if played 10 times would have resulted in 7 victories. Luck just wasn't on our side.

In Evans, it now looks like we have the Coutts replacement we need to kick on. But this time, we are not so reliant on Duffy, as we have Holmes and we have added depth in a more experienced Lundstram and Leonard. We've also got Leon fully adjusted to this level, where some thought he couldn't achieve. We've 3 recognised goal scorers in Wilson, Sharp and Donaldson. This isn't taking into account Brooks, Evans or Freeman coming back to add depth to the run in.

I think we should be aiming for top two. We have enough in the squad before the 4 future loanees depart and with players cup-tied to keep it fresh for the league.

I can see Wilder really fancying it from now on, especially if we avoid any more serious injuries.

The next three league games are the litmus test, CB. Get 7 or 9 points from those, regain the pre coutts injury swagger and we're serious contenders for 2nd.

Cracking result, but I think it's important not to get carried away with the win. They are a side that have not long since come off the back of a gruelling game against Chelsea & will be feeling it. We were on the back foot for the last 20 minutes or so which is a slight concern, but a win is a win.

Our next 3 games are huge!

Home to Villa
Away at Wolves
Home to Leeds

Pick up 5/6 points from this lot, and I think were in a superb position for the play offs & then our season will be back on track IMO.

Good result today though blades! More of the same please.

I think that we just needed a win. Our form has been improving for a while since the initial loss of Coutts but with the introduction of three new players (and Holmes getting a feel for what we do on the bench) to win any game is great to win away is superb and to beat a team in form away is even better. Yes the sibling shaggers were tired but they had a lot at stake including a possible run to the play offs which is pretty much killed off now. The three new players have all played together now and I think that will be the set midfield along with the introduction of Duffy and Holmes. We still have Brooks to come back in and a very healthy front line. So I'm not bothered about the last 20 mins because they we held at bay. It feels weird being this positive but CW does rub off on you.
