Arsenal manager says refs are getting worse!!! If these foriegn managers stopped their players cheating and diving about at the slightest touch it would make the refs jog easier. No chance of that when players are grabbing and pulling others in the area at corners etc and the so called experts say to a man that this kind of thing is part of the game. It wasnt part of the game I was taught to play. Premier football is riddled with cheating sods.

Why does being foreign make your players dive? And I still don' get why diving is the worst thing ever but pulling someone back when they are breaking away is "taking one for the team" and evidence of your "football iq". They are both cheating to me

Nail on the head for me. Just a pity it's in the wrong section and S2's finest and most pedantic will be along shortly, internet batons drawn to club you into embarrassment and shame.
and then the 'Anti thread police' Thread police will then join in

In all seriousness, is it that difficult for someone to post in the right section ?

This diving about as become more prevalent in the last few years since these foreigners have taken over premiership football.

No but it happens. I can understand Linz and Foxy getting pee'd off as it actually eats into their time but it doesn't really affect anyone else to any extent.

English players dive all the time. Do you think they caught it off the foreigners?

No chance Sean. They won’t bother Willie!! ;)

in defence , warnock was left seething this weekend , par the course maybe , but with some justification ,
cardiff had bogle sent of , for which warnock had no qualms but a bristol city player on a yellow , the lad bogle eventually fouled commited a nailed on yellow card offence and the ref showed leniency, when it should have been a red
some might praise that , but it was utterly inconsistant
and they got it wrong at boro

the ref v norwich at home was a stinker but saturdays was passable

When did we employ Wenger as Alan Knills assistant!??

The effect, if it's not policed, is that the Blades forum becomes clogged with threads about Wenger, Supertram, that gig last night, the size of Toblerones and Brexit. No worries if that's what everyone wants, but I doubt most do.

Wegner was moaning about raheem stirling diving and saying "he's very good at it"
Awwww, I suppose none of his players have ever dived eh?

Saturdays ref was great, he didn't give the penalty for O'Connell's blatant handball. Funny how we like them when they give decisions our way.:p

seeing one of "England's finest" Steven Gerrard get a pen at the lane, didn't dive, he was brought down by the "intent of the tackle" shows the bollox that has been happening for years.
sadly the "if you cant beat em join em" attitude has taken a hold.
but Wenger is a cum juggling thunder cunt.

The man struggles with zips for fucks sake!

There was a thread recently about Shaun Miller (now playing for Carlisle) being charged with winning a penalty by allegedly diving. I understand this retrospective "Trial by video" is a new thing. The sooner it is extended to allow for all situations where players dive, feign being tripped or fouled or roll around in agony where they clearly have not been touched the better. It's the only way to stamp this cheating out and would make the referee's job much easier. If players know they can be called to account and banned for "cheating" it would pretty soon get rid of this awful behaviour which has sadly become prevalent in the game. They have a similar thing in Rugby where players can get cited retrospectively for foul play and there is no reason why the use of video evidence should not be applied to football.

Just supporting a fellow referee who made a snap judgement , which was in my book understandable

far too many pens are given in these situations and if a ball struck at a player its sometimes impossible to avoid contact

I actually disagree with this, I think MORE penalties should be given for this. I think a penalty should be given every time the ball hits somebody's arm, if you're a defender facing a shot, stick your arms behind your back, no chance of giving away a penalty, if you don't and your arm comes into contact with the ball then it should be an automatic penalty. This way we could get away from the whole stupid debate of "ball to hand" because it removes all grey area.

Note it was a dirty cheating injury feigning lower league player.

Not Sterling or Young or Aguero or Sturridge etc. I really wouldn't hold your breath if you think that one of the big Prem 'stars' will be hauled up before the beak any time soon.

no , if an attackers gets a toucn on a ball and it diverts it from a yardaway to hit an arm theres no way it can be deliberate handball, there has to be some judgement calls
handball is deliberately seeking to control a ball if a balls deflected onto an elbow from a couple of feet away theres no thinking time to seek an advantage

Completely understand that, and in an ideal world that is a perfect ruling. However it does create grey area because it's down to an individual (the referee's) judgement, which could differ from one ref to the next. If it was plain and simple 'it hits your arm it's a penalty' then it makes the decisions clear cut.

What if a striker shoots, a defender on the line gets a foot to it, the ball bounces up onto his arm and then he boots it away to safety. He hasn't had time to consciously react and get his arm out of the way, but his arm has stopped the ball going into the net. He may not have sought an advantage, but a huge advantage has been gained.

but if you do that to remove judgement from handball , surely only time seperates all players going down will get penalties , just so theres no grey areas
again the ball hitting foot then arm theres no seeking to do it deliberately

our goal rubbed out at boro
that should have stood on video evidence as its a black and white issue
its more important to get things that can be judged sorted first
