Just wondering how many of our Wembley heartaches (1993 onwards) folks on here have been in attendance for? I've been to all 6 and I'm praying 7 is the lucky number! 🙏

I wouldn't count Man City as heartache. That was merely an event, a formality. We were literally there to make up the numbers so they could put a game on and officially have a semi final

I can't remember who we played to remember 🤣
1993 Pigs Semi Final
1997 Palace Playoffs
2009 Burnley Playoffs
2012 Huddersfield playoffs
2014 Hull Semi Final
2023 Man City Semi Final

I dare say that we might hate Wembley less if they hadn't started hosting semi-finals there too.

Ok so I will vote then.

I did 1993, 1997, 2009, and 2014.

4 for me. (Off topic I also did the 1998 and 2003 Semi-Finals, .and the Cardiff final).

Like most people on this thread, terrible record watching us in the big games!

I really do think and expect us to win this time.

Been to all of them plus Cardiff. Sadly, booked a family holiday in February and forgot to check playoff dates. Gutted.

Other than a quick divorce, I’m not going to be able to go to this one.

All of the fuckers, Pigs, Palace, Burnley, Huddersfield, Hull, Man City - plus Wolves, Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs….Yeovil, Swindon 🤣

All of them for me, plus Wolves plus Newcastle & Arsenal at OT. Also the 2 LC semis at Anfield and the Spurs one.

In terms of other playoff defeats, I was at the 2nd leg vs Bristol City in 88, was at Sunderland in 98, didn't go to Yeovil, Swindon or Forest.

Fun times...

Forgot about the OT Semis, I was at those too. And the Bristol relegation playoff.

Hopefully we will finally do it when I’m not there..

I've done 3 according to the established criteria: '09, 2012 & 2014.

Too young to go in '93. We were on holiday for Palace in '97 otherwise probably would have done that one too.

Did do both Old Trafford semis and Cardiff in '03 though.

I don’t class 2014 and 2023 as heartaches. The first one, lads did us proud. 2nd one was just unbelievably boring.

We’ve lost playoff finals in all the worst circumstances.

Last minute goal
Outplayed for 90 mins
Penalties
Already beaten at half time

It can’t ever be as bad as the above.

Ooh, we’ve got plenty more to give. We haven’t yet ticked off:

  • Reduced to ten men after two minutes
  • VAR overturns last-minute disallowed goal
  • Concede from a corner that 100% wasn’t a corner
  • Freak own goal
  • Opposition score whilst three of our players down injured
  • Referee awards indirect free kick for keeper holding onto the ball for more than six seconds (then concede the free kick)

Huddersfield 2012
Hull 2014
Man City 2023

Also the bonus ball of Cardiff in 2003.

Also also, just to add to my own personal terrible record, my Dads side of the family are Brentford fans, and they too have a crappy record!

This led to 3 Millenium Stadium Finals in 3 years for me, all defeats:
2001 LDV Vans Final (2-1 Loss to Port Vale)
2002 Division 2 PO Final (2-0 Loss to Stoke)
2003 Division 1 PO Final with Blades.

Chuck in another Wembley defeat in the Play Off final of 2013 for Brentford against Yeovil and the record gets worse still 🤣

Crumb of comfort being I went to watch Donny Rovers beat Leeds in the League 1 final in 2008.

We"ve not ticked off "squandered a 3 goal lead" yet...
