Fleck seems to have transformed into the player Coventry were telling us he was, hopefully only temporarily.

Wilder is spot on when he says we have to be 100% on it to win most games, but unfortunately against the top teams that have cost tens of £millions to put together, we can only be on it for part of the game. 100% effort for 50% of the game isn’t enough to get a result unless we get get 2 or 3 goals under our belts.

No point pressing the self destruct or spitting our dummies out, it is what it is and nothing will change until we can increase the overall quality of the squad, 50% dominance won’t be enough to beat good teams.

Look at their squad and look at ours. Then perhaps you would wonder how the hell we even get close to these teams? Dwight Gayle on loan is bigger than anything we have or can afford. They are living on parachute payments so have buckets of cash we don’t.

Go back a couple of years and we would be knawing arms off to be top 6 residents in the Championship. Go back 4 years and even more so. I’m afraid we are where we are and now it’s about putting money in to interest top players to want to play for us. It really is now as simple as that. This is what separates those who will go up from those who just wish and dream. Personally I am not that bothered about promotion to a division that we were cheated out of but that’s just me. The only issue with their age is their memory.

They forget the things that work after 40 minutes. Bye bye first time crosses, bye bye through balls, bye bye taking a man on, bye bye having a shot when a chance presents itself. Hello sideways and backwards, faffing about, defensive errors, hoofing it to the opposition keeper.

To try and be realistic, once again we lost by the odd goal, and once again (Rotherham and Leeds etc) it was an individual error that cost us points. We seem to be making too many individual errors, but I am not sure what anyone can do about it. Of equal/more concern is the form of Fleck which has seriously deteriorated and leaves CW with a headache as no one we have does what he does when on form.

But as I have said before if we can stay in the mix until January you never know what might happen if we do make a couple of key signings (I’m not talking automatic promotion but possibly the playoffs).

But to be in the top 6 with nearly half the season gone with teams whose resources are vast compared to ours is a fabulous achievement, irrespective of what happens in the coming months.

Our players are quality, in so far as they are all vital cogs in a pretty well oiled machine. But none are individual match winners. We don’t have a player who can make a chance for himself and convert it.

There are numerous examples, but the one that still sticks out to me was the Villa match at Bramall Lane last year. We played fantastically well, much better than tonight, dominated the majority of the match. But we lost. Snodgrass produced something from nothing and they took the 3 points. They got within a whisker of promotion, whilst we finished 10th.

We all know we can’t afford a Snodgrass. Other teams can. They will therefore always be in with a better shout of picking up points than us. It’s a simple one.

Something ain’t right when Fleck is the first sub at 55mins

He’s been far less influencial than Norwood for the past 3-4 games - considering the amount of Norwood posts regarding his form

Fleck has been poor by his standards since match one and Doasnt seem to enjoy playing alo g side Norwood ,who cost us a goal tonight.Wilder not happy withFleck either that's why he subbed him.

I think people need to realise that whilst Wilder isn't immune to criticism, he is the main reason why we aren't in any danger of going down. This squad is punching so far above its weight that if we get the next appointment wrong we could easily be in the bottom 3 next season.
