Pissed off at the huge cock up for the goal and and a bit disapointed with the performance levels but I understand why

Saw the team.and expected a workmanlike performance short of creativity

Overall though I was still a bag of nerves on the edge of my seat throughout praying for a match winner

So glad the footy is back ,life's been empty without it

It was a weird one to watch. Couldn't tell if it was the lack of crowd, being rusty after a long break, the injuries, or just a poor performance. Maybe all of the above. Thought it was a crap game but I still can't wait for the next one.

Better than Emmer Street or Coranationdale whatever the result!

Also,we now have a full competitive match under our belts unlike Newcastle.

True. Also felt that when we made the subs we started to look much better, people showing for the ball, working the wide areas and such. Shame it was too late in the game but the signs were that we'll get up to speed.

I’ll go against the grain somewhat and admit I didn’t enjoy it. Don’t like the empty stadiums and I never felt connected to what I was watching. Doesn’t help the game was a stinker but I was pretty bored throughout. I managed about 25 mins of the City game before I binned that off too.

The only criticism I have of Wilder is his subs. He could have brought up to 5 people in last night but he still waited far too long.

It’s all the more remarkable given how good a manger he is.

Looking forward to the next blades one but won't be at all bothered about non blades games. I'll have them on as background but nothing about it really appeals to me. Where as beforehand I could watch even the most low key of super Sundays

I think it seemed emptier because of Villa Park being so spread out and far away, I've been watching the Bundesliga and their grounds, even the massive ones, are right on top of the players. Terraces close to the seats mostly.

Villa park has open corners and the lower tiers are quite shallow, so it just seems miles away. It's like playing football in the Park and Ride near the tram depot. Just some distant buildings.

I won’t disagree but I think with our system we can easily get disjointed by having too many changes. Look at the cup games. I noticed when Freeman came on he went to play a short ball to Moose, who was expecting a ball over the top and started to make a run. The move obviously broke down.

Given we’d lost both JOC and Fleck I think CW was concerned about this, particularly with it being the first game after the enforced break. I suspect that’s why he played Lunny out of position and started Sharp. It didn’t really work and I don’t expect him to do it again but we didn’t concede so it did give us something, we were OK off the ball, worked hard and kept our shape.

That’s a good point. I mainly mean attacking subs though. Particularly before Berge, our best midfielders were always on the pitch and he never needs to change the defence, so it’s mainly the front two, which should be unbalancing is too much.

We created nothing yesterday though and I’m not sure any earlier subs would have mattered.

I’d have started McGoldrick, but I am currently running for President of the McGoldrick Fan Club.

I've been that way for a few seasons. I'm a Sheffield United fan much more than a football fan. I'll watch other games but I don't go out of my way for them.

Nah I love the big games and champions league nights but without the fans it's just not the same. Caught the penalty shoot out in the coppa Italia final and it was just so bizarre seeing the celebrations Infront of a CGI crowd!

He’s so important when we’re hitting long balls out of defence like we did last night. Gets on the end of a lot, either wins the header or causes the defender to get a poor contact on it and not clear it properly. And important when we pass it through midfield and he drops deeper to become an extra option.

Basically, he’s important.

Thank fuck we're back playing. That's about as far as I'll go!

That was the worst game I've watched since the break, from any division.

Colchester v Exeter L2 play off semi is on now. Could be proper bollocks.

I’m really pleased football is back but I didn’t enjoy our game much. I thought we were poor, the game itself was poor (soooo slow), the lack of fans made it bizarre and the failure to give us that goal was disgraceful and p!ssed me off completely. Had we won I would have been ecstatic though as the result is always by far the most important thing for me.

We need to improve but I’m sure we will. And 6th is still fantastic.

Wait till West Ham at home are on. Its already dead when people are there

Struggling to see how anyone could have enjoyed that disgusting shafting.

24 hours on still utterly gutted and angry.

I’ve heard that before.

Enjoy isn't quite the right word, but it felt good to watch us in the company of Esteemed Forgeblade, eat his amazing home made pizza (that WAS enjoyable), and have a beer. And we now have 44 points.
This is a time that we've come to appreciate "small pleasures". The game was exactly that- should have won, could have lost, got another away point. A small pleasure to match the times!
