You know those first and second goals today? They were all the result of the investment from the Prince. Baxter, Scougall and Brayford would never have signed had it not been for investment in the club. You could argue that were it not for HRH, we wouldn't have had Nigel Clough either.

I really don't know who people have been expecting us to bloody sign given the FFP constraints on the club.
Totally agree houso ,i cant see mccabe footing the bill for them can you?
Also heard the prince says hes putting 22mill in next season ,anyone else know anything on this?

Agree with Houso's comments, some fans have the vision of a peanut I'm afraid.....as for that rumour wizadry, can't see that at all mate. It wouldn't make sense to spend that type of money in this division. If we were to spend 25-35% of that figure you quoted I'd have thought we'd have done enough to give us a good shout at challenging for promotion. I'm assuming you were referring to transfer fees not including wages+bonus?

There'll be plenty of reasons for the Prince to dip into his wallet when we get promoted to the Championship, but finding those forwards we've all been on about for this division will cost, but not as much as many seem to think. If I recall, Bradford's Wells went for just over a million, so I use him as a barometer as to what we'll need to invest in. What happens in a higher division will be another question altogether.

In the second half we just weren't at the races, certainly for the first 15-20 minutes anyway. We still kept battling though and got that 3rd goal and then when Harry got the ball on the edge of the box, I thought that was going to be 4.

Even with that poor spell, I can't fault them at all. They were absolutely incredible and deserve a full house on Friday to raise the roof for them.

I'll never forget that first half and the ovation/singing when they scored their 5th and half of our team slumped to the floor devastated was just phenomenal. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. Never seen that before and I'll probably never see it again.

Absolutely. I'm growing a little tired of that sort of illogical, attention-seeking nonsense. Especially after a great day when the revival of our club could not have been more obvious.

As I've said many times before, but some choose not to take any notice, HRH has a contractual obligation to invest in the first team and its infrastructure.

He is not a 'phantom' as ludicrously suggested, but equally, much the greater part of the investment is earmarked for a promotion push from the Championship to the Premiership and sustainable growth thereafter. We will not be spending millions in the close season, but Nigel has a 'generous budget' according to Jim (Assistant Phantom) Phipps.

Aside from the players we've seen brought in (at modest but significant outlay), we're about to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on the pitch. This simply wouldn't occur to a regime with no money and no long term plan.

No mate, not you at all. The people who have, despite all the evidence to the contrary, got it into their heads that the HRH involvement is some sort of con trick. They can't, of course, explain how such a scam (it would be quickly self-exposing) would benefit HRH, KM or the club as opposed to them all voluntarily exposing themselves to ridicule. That's because there is no sensible explanation. Sad that it rears it's head at a time when most of us are rightly feeling very proud of our club and full of justifiable optimism. For some (too many) it's the Bladesfans' Way.

Can't argue with that apart from the FFP bit. Don't think that ever was anything other than a lazy excuse by McCabe. What I would say about player recruitment is that it isn't just down to how much we will pay and how much clubs want, it probably has at least as much to do with whether players want to come and play for us. Arguably under Warnock, Blackwell and others some players didn't want to come and play, no matter how much we offered. Certainly in that critical transfer window September this year players could already see what a mess we were in so when we were trying to get them in most of them said no.

Now, under Clough we can sell SUFC as a place players want to play at. You can see and feel progression. Footballers aren't any different to anyone else, they want to be seen to make steps forward in their career. SUFC is now a forward step for a lot of players. The future looks good and we can finance it sensibly. I think this summer will be a good one for us, because we have a manager and structure that you can sell to incoming players. We play decent football, we look like a team that is going somewhere and the ground and fan base speaks for itself. It may not be MASSIVE but its pretty impressive. I can't think of many outside the top ten of the Premiership who are better supported and have a better infrastructure than we do.
