Paul Tomlinson?

EDIT: You're not counting something daft like Jagielka in goal are you?!!!

No - debut 19/11/83 in the 5-1 win at Wrexham in the FA Cup.

The remaining 4 are:

Tom McAlisatar - 15/4/72 Ipswich (a) 0-0
Jim Brown - 16/3/74 Man City (a) 1-0
Derek Richardson (!) 21/12/79 Southend (h) 2-0
Terry Poole - 25/3/80 Barnsley (a) 0-0.

Ahhh, right. Didn't start watching United until 1986 so I've got an excuse. I thought there would be a few loaned in keepers tbh.

Bugger. My first attempt at the day after Tuesday quiz and I fucked it up! Fancy Muggleton coming on as an oufield sub!! What about Merv the Swerve, I seem to recall him playing for us but no idea about scorlines.

I used to say to my clayhead mates that we'd never trust Muggleton with goalkeeping gloves, so we had to play him on the wing. If I remember rightly he did ship 4 in about 15 minutes for Stoke at the Victoria Ground the following eason, which kind of proved my point.

My vote went for Lee Baxter, but someone's done that already.

Simon Tracey?
Derrick Richardson - didn't he keep a clean sheet just before that match I hate to think about that destroyed my teenage years and has scarred me for life?

Could have sworn we lost by more than 3 when Mervyn Day was in goal at Wimbledon - seem to recall it was 4 or 5 - but then Darren's memory is not something I care to challenge on this subject.

Why doesnt Darren wait until the next day to reveal the answers to give the others who log in only in the evenings (unless they are having the day off work) a chance to give the answers. I was at the Ipswich game when Tom McAlister made his competitive 1st team debut.

someone mentioned Jagielka as he stood in as emergency keeper a few times. I think Woody had 6 or 7 emergency appearances without conceding a goal. He finally conceded a goal in his last emergency stint which was a Billy Dearden own goal in the 2-1 home defeat against Man City in October 1973

Darren - Being the Baldes Oracle you are, I was counting on you to confirm or deny
Didn't Derrick Richardson keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 before the BDM?
DId Tracey keep a clean sheet on debut also?

We beat Huddersfield 5-1 on Tracey's debut. 88-89 season.

United won 5-1 in Tracey's debut game.

Richardson was mentioned by Darren above.

Thanks Revo - missed that
Soz Darren - the Oracle did speak - put it down to the cold I have had this week - not quite with it.

Silent, you've made the common mistake of assuming that Darren's quiz is for people like you and me, it isn't.

It's for the Dazzler to, well, dazzle us and is his message board equivalent of sweeping into court in his robes and with his horsehair syrup, so the prosecution know straightaway they have no chance.

In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't just ask the question and give the answer in the same posting, make it rhetorical, save all that messing about :-)

You could of course change jobs and get one with different working hours, so you can waste time on here like others do, not me obviously.
