The U23s are away at Birmingham this evening. 7pm kick off at St Andrews.
Off the back of the 2-1 win against Barnsley on 25 September, United are 2nd in the Professional Development League, North. Four wins & three losses. Twelve points from seven games.
A win at St Andrews will put us top - above SWFC. Albeit we'll have played two more games than them. A draw will keep us 2nd on Goal Difference.
Both Jordan Hallam (4 goals) and Tyler Smith (3 goals) are in the Top 6 Goalscorers.
We're the only game today. SWFC play Friday afts....
Birmingham are 6th. Seven points from five games.
Although we won that last league game v Barnsley, last time out, the U23s lost 1-0 to Ipswich in the Premier League Cup.

We're off to the game. So, I'll do goal updates on my Twitter. I'll duplicate what I can on here. And, there'll be a fuller report with BEER on my Blog at some point.

I might see you there then - late decision to get my Blades fix.

Any injury returnees/first team fringe players expected to feature?

Looks like Blackman will be keeping his place as n the 1st team.

I actually thought Moore played well. He was very vocal, Commanded the defence well, his positioning was good and his kicking was good. It wasn't his fault that the rest of the team were being overrun, in particular he made one exceptional save at the start of the second half that kept it at 0-2. I think it's fair enough that Blackman keeps the gloves at the moment as he's been part of a team that's done well, but to me he doesn't look as good a communicator, he looks slightly hesitant and less confident. I would be quite happy if Moore got back in.

Echoing what Paulus says, Moore was very vocal throughout & did make a couple of good saves.

Sorry Ihadadream I wouldn't know BCFC first teamers from Adam. What I do know, on the night, they were much better.

Overrun in midfield.
Nowt happening up top.
Poor.

Anyway, there's more detail in my Blog Report

Sounds like a poor display tonight. I couldn't make it but our lads don't seem to be doing themselves any favours. Do you think the back three need to have a holding mid fielder filling in when one of them pushes on Graham was fine on the right centre back in a back four looks like the lad is accommodating Hennegan and finding it a bit difficult, he is young. Got to trust we will get it sorted although using the 23s to give first team players game time must be a good thing

Well.......
If they keep 3 at the back Graham, Heneghan, Ferguson (Cantrill can do that role as well). And if they keep 2 absolute bombing attacking wing backs, two of Jake Bennett, Nathan Thomas & Norrington-Davies. Then....
Someone has to do the Coutts role, outlet, give, take.
And someone has to do the hard yards holding role.
When fit & not suspended, Slater & Gilmour, can do either/or/both.
I think we've just got to go back to some basics & a spine. We've got a good core of players. Whisper it ... we need a more sensible tempo at times, don't wave the wingbacks up all the time. And, yes, if they go, if Graham & Ferguson overlap 'em. We need the midfield to hold.
We had no one doing the Coutts role tonight. We normally have. It cost us. Graham is better & superb as centre of a three or one of two. But, Heneghan is a Big Dog Incomer. So, he'll play where he wants. Graham will have his day.
All I've got....
