Great analysis Deadbat my only reflection is Cooper. It wasn't just the saves, but the assurance he provides the defence in front of him. He is just so solid, reliable and calm. He does the basics and so well.

Imagine if Leeds had Cooper. And we had theirs. They would be 20 points clear.
If we don't go up we'll get big money for Coops, cos either way he's Premier league bound next season

Leeds will sniff around for sure. He must be in line for a place in the Euros squad given the dearth of talent atm. Hopefully he will still be a Blade when he replaces Ramsdale in the queue behind Pickford.

I was swearing at McCallum at the end when we conceded the corner at the end of the match. The pass to him was simple and he had all day to come for it, but he stood there and waited static for it to come to him and this led to us losing possession and conceding a corner. Given how long he had been on the pitch that was poor.
It was very thick play this from a lad who I like and usually does well coming on to close the game out - he also had the option to send the ball down the channel for Cannon to chase into the corner but decided to turn back

It ws incredibly brain dead from him
I was thinking Malaysian betting syndicate at the time.

Ramsdale seems to be going backwards

Really? His relegation stats are improving by the season. Three different clubs. Where next for the wonder keeper? I can only think that spell at Arsenal was fluke and the perfect storm, of a great team in front of him.

He had a purple patch and became a bit of a media darling. He's still living off that brief run of form

Agree I was shouting at the TV too.

The reason was because it was approaching the final minute of extra time and the ball went to McCallum in space out on the wing.

At that point I’m celebrating on the inside …thinking McCallum only needs to get the ball and sprint down the wing towards the corner flag
But somehow he lost control of the ball allowing Wednesday to have a final attack.

When they had that corner in the final seconds….i just kept thinking if SW score then McCallum would be totally to blame.

Deadbat,

If you didn’t watch it.

Basically it was like a cup tie between a league 1 team and a PL team.

Wednesday played like a really good league 1 team trying mainly long ball tactics.

They had 3 or 4 half chances and couldn’t score with Cooper making some good saves.

United looked like a poor Premier league playing in 2nd gear. We didn’t create as many chances but you could see we had players of far higher quality.

What people don’t seem to realise is if Brewster hadn’t scored that goal. We’d have continued to pile on the pressure hunting for the break through, so we were always going to score.

Once we did score we did our usual trick of being conservative sitting back but we defended well and like in the 1st match any neutral would say we just about deserved to win.

I watched it after the event so did see the game.

I'd agree I was harsh on Cooper. Maybe an 8 and Choudhury and Peck could both have 0.5 more but not sure anyone outside Cooper was that great really.

I'd agree with most of your scores except for Seriki, I thought he was poor yesterday. He was often chasing the player he was supposed to be marking, Patterson got the better of him a couple of times and going forward he was largely ineffective. I thought this was his worst performance for us this season. He just didn't seem as switched on and kept reacting instead of anticipating.
Funny

Me and my lot thought he was second only to Cooper

Funny how things are viewed differently- if not polars apart - but hey ho

It was tailor made for him to run it into the corner, wasn’t it? Win a throw and then just end the game in their corner of the field.

But he obviously had other ideas!

Once we'd weathered their storm in the first ten minutes I thought it was largely a disciplined collective team effort.

I bet if you asked Wilder, Knill and the coaching staff to score the outfield players, their scores would be completely different to all of ours and would probably view performance on how well they did the jobs they were assigned to do within the team.

Nobodies mentioned how well collectively we beat their press in the first half with quick one touch passing out of defence. That's not easy to do!

I spotted this and thought it was great - I knew there was no way that they would be able to maintain that intensity and so it proved.

We did a really good job playing keep ball after we scored for a period - didn't let them come right back at us.
