Loads of pig fans left at the full time whistle from what I can gather and the shit hit the fan not too far from the Beer Engine. They weren’t forced to be kept in, I’ve been told this by a few people too.
There really can't have been that many, as the players stayed on the field for 10 minutes and the away end was still packed. My next port of call was The Beer Engine and the area was a pig free zone.

I'm not sure they can actually enforce it to keep you in, they can say it beforehand and a lot of people will stick to it, I think that's why they do it, but I can guarantee if we've lost at Hillsborough, not a prayer am I staying in that shithole one second longer watching them celebrate. I couldnt believe what i was witnessing on Sunday, you honestly could've mistaken that away end for a team that had won( stupid small time cunts), the police have the power on the street to basically tell you what your doing but I'm pretty certain they have none to keep you In a place that's absolutely nothing to do with them.
You've clearly no idea. Police Kettling has been around for decades. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kettling

They either left early or weren’t actually at the game in the first place, either way it happened near the Beer Engine straight after the full time whistle, I like you was still in the ground for quite a bit after the end so didn’t see any of it but I don’t hesitate to say something big kicked off from the people I’ve heard it off. Put it this way, there was quite a few arrests and usually they leave that until a week or so after.

It was the "loads" comment I was picking up on, which is subjective I appreciate. But clearly 99% of them were held back.

Yeah, I noticed most were still in their seats whilst we were taking the piss singing songs at the end but there were quite a few gaps too which were very noticeable.

So are you saying they can force football fans to stay In a stadium for as long as they want? I don't know the answer but I was pretty sure they weren't allowed to do it no more. As I said they can do what they want on the streets, so please enlighten me on the ruling surrounding locking football fans in a stadium as your right I have no idea.

You'd expect a good number would be in the concourse, preferring not to watch 10 minutes of us piss taking and celebrating. I was surprised how many didn't do that to be honest.

You aren't allow to do it on a whim anymore (due to The Human Rights Act), but you are allowed to apply for it when you can cite genuine safety concerns.

There were scraps going off near Abbeydale road well after the final whistle also,a girl who lives there said there were gangs running each other for a while. Nether edge ultras ?

Thanks for the info. I'd imagine applying for it on genuine safety concerns on the basis of football fans leaving a stadium probably won't hold up and that's why it probably doesn't happen anymore. I remember it Used to happen at Ninian park regularly in the 2000s. Leeds we got kept in for an age in the 0-4 game. Millwall still do it but not in the stadium, just do it outside instead. The 2-4 at Hillsborough I'm sure we got asked to but everyone left and they just penned us all in outside and wouldn't let us go till they'd all fucked off( didnt take long 🤣), it's a hell of a lot easier to do that there than at bramall lane though.

there will have been loads of wednesday fans not at the match but out to cause trouble afterwards

Quite unbelievable that they held the Wednesday fans back (sensible) then throttled the United fans back so much that they still ended up meeting on Bramall lane.

On the face of it, idiotic policing.

That's exactly what happened, we had just enough time to get past the cordons and walk away together.. this looks like the copper who ran into the fighting to try and stop it. 1000025855.webp

The answer to that is yes, been to Millwall a number of times over the years where they just lock the gates and it was impossible to get out. Last few time s I've been they haven't kept us in a they've got the away alley back to the station.

Well I think the police did a marvellous job…. Escorting 75,000 massive safely away largely without incident was admirable. We hardly knew they were there..

What you call "the streets" they call "anywhere". If they want to kettle, you they will, even in your own home. They don't need a "ruling", they just do it and leave you to piss and moan about how it's not fair, while keeping you kettled.

I think you'll find they need a ruling to come in your home
