We would have stayed up under VAR

Yes,that's the worst one of all.

I remember watching a panel analyse that 'goal' and concluding that there were at least THREE reasons why it shouldn't have been given - apart from the fact that the poisoned dwarf shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first fucking place.
May I say at this point that not only is your technical knowledge excellent, but also your command of foul and abusive language shows you to be truly one of us......

We scored a last minute winner at Watford that should have been given offside that Premier League season.

Swings and Roundabouts.

What a superb idea for a new episode!

I was actually thinking about this the other day and agree that we would have 100% survived. I seem to recall someone making a league table of the Premier League after the season with all the results if everything had been correctly officiated and we were safe from the drop zone.

What people forget is that each incident, especially goals, changes the match from that moment on. You can't just add or take away a goal and think that the final result would have stayed that way plus/minus the goal. The what ifs make for a decent pub discussion (after a few) but apart from that it's all bollocks.

Liddell offside against Villa in the FACup third round - can't remember the season.

Oddly enough it was 2 Man Utd fans who for the season used slow mo and replays to get the right results. We were about 10 points better off!

Typical how it has come too late.

Looking back on our ill-fated Premier League season, there are a number of decisions which would have been overturned under review:

- The penalty vs Liverpool would have shown no contact and a 1-0 victory would have kicked off the season.
- The foul on Luton Shelton would have given us a goal at Old Trafford which could have kept us up.
- The Kozzy goal against West Ham for what was a foul on Geary, not the other way would have got us a point and West Ham two less.
- Before Jagielka's fateful handball, a foul on him at the other end would have been given.

I think there were others but there was a website which was called have you got specs ref or something along those lines and we would have been safe.

How things could have been different!

Any others? I seem to think there were.

You would still be relying on the refs to make the final decision and the Chelsea v Norwich match proved that VAR system is not perfect.

That said the VAR system correctly used during our PL season may have kept us up.

I've actually stayed up too long after a 16hour day to be reading this. Goodnight.

But then we'd lose points due to Webber's winner at Watford being ruled out for offside... Swings and roundabouts...

Yes it was swings and roudabouts, but in our case the swings were much bigger than the roudabouts.

I think that the "you need specs ref" site concluded that in the 2006-7 season we were the worst affected club in the premier league with regard to poor decisions. And that took into account poor decisions that went our way.

You missed one.

- Assuming that no other teams can also point to half a dozen decisions that went against them
Not really because the website that ran at the time had decisions robbing United of points while others benefited. All taken into account, United would have not been in the bottom three.

To Danny’s point, yes United have had decisions go our way. But don’t you think Man U get more decisions go there way? Or would you say it all evens itself out and the so-called Big clubs don’t get favoured?
