I see we have equalled the pigs 99-2000 worst start to a Premier League season :(

Shouldn't we be saying, "It's not where you start, it's where you finish that counts," this early in the season, not, MAN THE LIFEBOATS !!!!!!. ........ :tumbleweed:

if there were 5 games left and we were 3 points from safety, i still wouldn't have given up yet. There are 30 games left and we are 3 points from safety, and within 5 points of 16th. The current situation is shit, yes, but there is so, so much time to turn it around.

Agree....that is the point people seem to be ignoring.
We’ve had a terrible start.....normally it reasons for genuine pessimism.

However at present it looks like there may be 4 or even 5 terrible teams (if you include Brighton).

The fact is that only THREE teams can be relegated.
It‘s quite incredible (and lucky) that we aren‘t already cut adrift at the bottom.
Amazingly, we only need 2 wins and we’re likely to be outside the relegation zone.
Also theres plenty of the season left.....no need to panic yet....to date we’ve played a tougher set of fixtures than our rivals...so let’s see what happens in Nov/ Dec.
We‘ve shown last year what we’re capable of and this year (apart from the goalie) the squad is better...so I still feel quite confident.

That's the thing, I can't see us getting two wins. We can't keep a clean sheet and we create next to nothing.

I agree - last year's table after 8 matches can be viewed here: https://www.worldfootball.net/schedule/eng-premier-league-2019-2020-spieltag/8/. Surprisingly, we were only 2 points above the drop zone after 8 games last season, but at that stage the entire bottom half of the table was within 3 points of the relegation zone.

I can never get my head around the maths of it all, whether that means it's a stronger or weaker league or whatever, but it certainly has a completely different shape to it, and i hate to admit it but that other thread about "the only table that matters" might actually be bang on.
