Weir wont change his system and style. It is ok to use this system and style at Academy level as it is important to develop the players without the pressure of winning games. It is different at 1st team level. Had we appointed Downes we would have been at the other end of the table and have less of the tippy tappy nonsense. In normal circumstances , Hill would have cleared the ball out (just before Preston scored) but I think he was playing to Weir's instructions that when a defender is in the same situation then he should make more effort to hold the ball and then pass the ball to a team mate but today it went wrong and then Preston took advantage. we have to cut out these silly risks

To be frank, appointing my granny would have been a better a idea that appointing Weir and she has been dead these twenty odd years.

I think Kevin McCabe will be regretting not having the nerve to appoint Robert Page. He is the man they wanted but dare not upset the fans

They were advised to have an ex blade ,and so nearly appointed him ,but it wasn't Page ,at least not as the number 1 anyway.

Sitwell, as a wise man of the world where do you think DW can go from here?

Does he need help in terms of DoF to allow him to get on with the football side. Players are going to stop listening, if he isn' t going to go I need to know how he can turn things round. I just can't see how he can.

As much as I would like him to turn it round ,we cant keep changing managers ,I cant see it happening . He is too stubborn ,doesn't understand Sheffield United as a club enough and has no experience of 3rd division football. We demand excitement ,passion and teamwork at Bramall Lane ,that's the way we are and we wont have the patience for him to implement his style into a winning team. He is a novice and is changing things too quickly ,he doesn't have the motivational skills to carry us through tight games, we don't attack enough and I sense cliques in the team. He doesn't feel comfortable with the supporters and think sadly it is too big a job for him.
The ex player I am talking of is Glyn Hodges ,he was very close to being offered that job and would have taken it ,I think he and Page would have been a much better option.

No passion to play for the shirt. Once they scored you just knew that was it.
Who to get I don't know but this has to change and now

Ahh I was told it was Page with his number 2 being Hodges. I was all for this or even the other way round. As guys I have met socially I find them the type of men people listen to which we need with young players. I am not sure there is a member of DW's management team who has that type of Aura

I can't see DW turning this around and he needed to do the transformation a lot slower as you said. We played today how we should have been playing from the start of the season being a little bit more direct. I think it's too late now, because that hasn't worked and the players will now question both methods.

I am not sure as a club we could take a risk on Page and Hodges and we may need an experienced hand here now which is a shame

Spot on - and the same every time we fall behind. No passion, no shape, no idea. So easy to beat.

I am not sure why you would even bother with an academy if you're going to teach them to play in a way that's completely different to how the first team line up

The idea (not my idea) of having an Academy is to teach the players "good habits" (skill before aggression) but when an academy player gets into the 1st team it is usually a "culture shock" for them. I know some players who are released from Academy go to play in div A of the Junior Sunday league and get surprised at how physical the players in div A are.
