Could it also be possible that Berge and O'Connell are close to coming back and played a part in not bringing in a midfielder and a left sided centre half?
Not saying it is but a possibility?

JoC suffered a setback recently so looks like next season.

The revenue from putting ticket prices up would be a drop in the ocean for club finances but everything for some fans, so yes I'm proud that our club has treated us well on that side of things.

The difference in spending power between us and Villa is not the cost of a season ticket, it's the wealth of the owner.

We all have the same FFP rules

Other clubs spend more because they generate more. Every aspect of their money making facility is miles ahead of ours.

Every big popular signing generates more money making opportunities.

It's not because Chairmen spend their own personal fortunes.

Football chairmen would all be bankrupt after 10 years if they did.

Why do our fans seem to think every chairman we have are robbing bastards

Is it based on anything. Have you seen him having barbecues burning 50 pound notes
or crumpling tenners....for that matter
so ok it wasn't their chairman

FFP isn’t the reason we don’t spend loads of money though and Villa do, it’s the access to funds.

Villa have access to funds and we don’t.

We aren’t subject to FFP in the PL and we aren’t in a UEFA competition so the FFP point is redundant.

Other clubs generate more income than we do
That's why they spend more.

They protect their investment in players by paying the wages.

It's not because some billionaire chucks a hundred million of his own money at it every year, who'd be that bleeding daft.

The biggest clubs in spite of their spending still turn a profit every year.

The smaller clubs have players worth tens of millions on good contracts which mean they'll only be leaving for tens of millions, generating money to spend.

But they are in that position because they play the Premier League game properly instead of playing at it.

McBurnie as an example will be looking for a new contract next year, he'll have been here three years and we're likely to be a Championship club. So, he'll leave cheaply and that will be £18 million pissed down the toilet.

It’s probably a combination of the 2. We are a very low revenue generator in PL terms and Villa have a lot more of a marketable product with their European history etc. Their revenue is definitely a lot higher than ours, but their owner has also thrown a lot of cash at them. Ours has tried to live within our limited means.

In the case of Chelsea and Man City though I read recently that Abramovich has put in nearly £1bn of his own so he is obviously that stupid. Mansour is not far behind at City. It’s hard to find these uber wealthy individuals though.

To say that owners don’t just throw money at clubs is a generalisation that’s not always true though. A lot have converted investment into loans and then subsequently written them off. That’s the worst case of pissing money up the wall I’ve ever seen.

It's a bit more complicated than just generate more. Other people can give a better explanation of FFP and so on but it can't be news to you that Man City were able to spend a billion on assembling teams because a Sheikh bought them out, not because they upped the season ticket price.

Everything I've read in this thread good or bad is just pure speculation, no one can even be sure where we'll finish this season, and I'm dam sure, loan players apart , no one can be certain who will still be here.

I'm assuming that is a real Bertrand Russell quote.

That's upped the intellectual tone nicely. Amazingly you seem to have managed to use punctuation and capital letters too. Just a warning, but that kind of behaviour just won't catch on here.

Yes of course
I'm not trying to give running commentary, just short bullet points.

Other clubs generate more income so it enables them to spend more.

This can be sponsorship, higher league finishes, winning competitions, qualifying for competitions, corporate and private hospitality, and even selling players for proper serious money.

We are miles behind in each department and it will start to improve if we pay the salaries that players want, and get the players we want.

The other things follow on from that once you become a viable Premier League club that doesn't get switched off when they come on TV

Perfect example giroud swings and arm at egans head if he goes down and play act bar look at it
