Probably stating the obvious, but we need some fresh players urgently. Not next week, month or in January. We need them now.I appreciate the transfer window is closed, and the club dont want to rely on loans.I dont think loans are the answer, but relegation is becoming a real possibility. And that would be a disaster.Speed as been left an almost impossible task of trying to get the current players to play the style he wants to adopt. It would be easier to learn Elephants to climb trees. But if we have to get quality loan players in to stabilise so be it.Its time to take a gamble.UTB.

As far as I'm aware, in order to gamble one needs something to stake. And we, a fact that some on here haven't really taken on board yet, do not have a pot to piss in at the moment.

Did you look at the bench on Saturday? We haven't even got a full squad right now. We're pared right down to the bone and yet you think there's enough loose change rattling around in the bottom of the kitty for quality loans?

I just can't see it. We're stuck with what we've got it would seem, the only options being "work on the training ground" or the ritual sacrifice of a few chickens to Mawu Lisa.

I look at other clubs who have and are in worse financial state than us,but have tried to improve. We at the moment are like a wounded animal waiting to die.I dont actually buy into this thing that we're financially strapped. With the sales of players we've made we should be very wealthy.

You probably, are more in the know than i am.But how or why are we in so much debt.We continually sell players, have been awarded the Tevez money and have offloaded the highest earners. How have we accumulated debts of 50million/
Whether you buy into it or not is, unfortunately, irrelevant. Our debt is 50 million. That sounds pretty much strapped to me.

Because we've paid out salieries like £350,000 per year to players like Ryan France. We've had a £20M wagebill and a very average squad. And because we've invested in hotels, Chinese football and properties - all of which I believe are losing money. On top, we have to service that debt, with some of McCabe's loans notching up 10% interest every year.....:(

Isnt Mcabe on record as saying that the foreign off field ventures wouldnt affect the ability for us to compete with other clubs?

He is I believe, yes. But do you understand how that can happen? We are one entity as a PLC. If, as happened, Chengdu lost £2.5M is one year, it comes from the PLC accounts. How can that not effect our fortunes? If these other ventures were entered into to add income to the club in the good days, how can it be that they don't hold us back in the bad days?

I think he left himself with sufficient wiggle room here. The ONLY foreign venture which SUFC has a direct financial connection with is Chengdu Blades. ALL the others including Ferencvaros are separate from SUFC. The only connection that exists is that they are owned by McCabe's other companies.

If Chengdu lose money then we are affected directly. If the other companies lose money then we are only affected in so far as McCabe's ability to generate cash is lessened and therefore his capacity for making any further investments in any of his businesses.

However, if he has cash flow problems anywhere within his empire, he could use any money generated by SUFC to make up the shortfall. Not saying he has though - just in case Messrs. Sue, Grabbit and Runne are reading.

who could we get then?
ill set the ball rolling.. martyn woolford? attacking midfielder at scunny who scored against man utd.. nicky maynard..the bristol city centre forward (currently injured, so he'd fit right in).. even le fondre

I was under the impression that the restructuring of Chengdu recently meant that was no longer the case?

To be fair many, many impressions have been created by McCabe in recent years and not many of them have stood up.
The bottom line is he's created a mountain of debt and given us a team heading to League One.
No ifs, no buts about that.
Just what went through his mind during the summer to allow Blackwell to assemble something approaching a team then to sack him two games in, lord only knows.
Speed's now stuck with a hotch potch of loanings, journeymen and one or two kids to try to put something together.
If he took the job without assurances of some support to sort it out, he's mad.
If he got those assurances and now he isn't getting the support obviously required, he should think about resigning.

all we need now is 'happy' harry haslam again and we've got the set ;)

I'd be thinking more Martin Peters though I think Speed's probably got more about him.

my sister works in the marsdons suite, above the family stand, and she has heard from her boss that speed will be given money to spend in January...
