Because the History and odds would suggest that 2 teams in 3rd in different divisions won't go up via the playoffs in the same season. :( ;) :D  :p

Just been chatting to an 'Appy 'Ammer at work who is very confident of them winning on Saturday. He gave me the sob story of never having seen them win anything in his lifetime...he's too senior in the company for me to have told him why I hate them :)

If he counts getting promoted to the PL via the play offs as "winning something", he must be very young (despite his seniority in the company) as WHU did exactly that in 2005.

So one of BusheyBlade's superiors is a 6 year old child?

Quite. Unfortunately I'm not as well versed as Darren is in West Ham folklore, but their last play off win against Preston did slip my mind.

For the record...not only is he superior to me in the company, but also in age

Does he not remember the 1980 Cup Final then? Can't recall who scored or how though, just one of those things that gets forgotten about I guess.

He did say that he watched them win the Cup Final on TV when he was younger.

you have it arse about face..
we need west ham to win.. then the FA will 'allow' us to win

It was against Arsenal and Brooking scored. I think it was a header. If you were a West Ham fan it would probably be remembered as an excellent goal. If you were an Arsenal fan, with some justification you would probably remember it as being something of a fluke goal.

only header he ever scored i reckon.. i always had a sneaking suspicion that he was trying to get out of the way TBH

I watched the Championship play-off and the CL final today and I have to say the Blackpool/WHU was far better as a neutral. Here's hoping the next game at Wembley is as entertaining.

Did you enjoy Luton v York then :D

Just looked at Luton's record over the last few years and it makes our recent woes a bundle of laughs:

2007: relegated from the 2nd tier
2008: relegated from the 3rd tier
2009: relegated from the 4th tier
2010: lose conference play off semi
2011: lose conference play off final
2012: lose conference play off final

There's always someone worse off than you....

I found myself being more relaxed about this than I thought I was going to be, because at the end of the day the last thing we need is more Lancashire teams in the top flight. Plus West Ham were third and Blackpool haven't won a promotion the proper way in ages. Teams placed 4th to 6ht promoted via the playoffs are cheating.

Sorry, York were in the Championship??
