We have a problem with Cooper

I’m sure our early 00’s sub keepers were picked from the Blades Superdraw league. Wilko De Vogt, Phil Barnes, Kristian Rogers and Lee Baxter
Made me shudder.

Problem we have is Cooper has no competition and when hes bang out of form we have no onr to drop him for. As davies os as bad as those on thay list you mentioned.

Speaking of sub keepers from that era - Ian Bennett was suppin in the fan park tonight.

Cooper was class last season. Like the rest of the team, it’s been a huge drop off. He’ll come good again

Bennett broke the trend of shit sub keepers as he was actually a very decent one himself. After him, we went back to having sub goalies with the ability of an amputee

He does the odd worldie but most of the time he's shite. Half his goal kicks go straight out of play.

Foderingham was far far better.

I can't believe some of our fans were talking him up as a potential England keeper.. We signed him for £2m from a bottom 3 team. He's definitely a bottom 3 goalkeeper worth about £2m.

I will say it again and keep saying it. He hasn't been the same since the end of last year. He is still very good when taking the ball from corners or crosses, but otherwise his positioning and reactions when stopping shots have deteriorated, especially those driven hard and low. He is also looking shaky when the ball is passed back to him - although that was a stupid back pass by Davies tonight to be fair.

Whether it's a confidence thing, or due to injury is unknown, but we might need an upgrade in January at this rate.

Nah he's on fringes of England squad with arblaster and burrows, must be worth £15m easy and loads of prem clubs were after him in summer, can't you remember the bid from erm what they called, and erm thingy me bob and that other one from oooh it's on tip of my tongue, Arblaster will be the next one to fall off a cliff as well

Not sure if it’s injury or fitness related but he didn’t look comfortable moving around last night, i know his kicking has never been the best but he struggled to get it out of our own half and even went with his left a couple a of times.

Christ, I can't believe what I'm reading. Last season, he was one of the best English goalkeepers. This season (8 league games), he's being compared with Grbic and being told he needs to be dropped. Yes, he hasn't been his usual self - whether that's him playing injured, low on confidence or something wrong with him mentally (he doesn't look as cheerful as he used to). But we're supporters, and we're supposed to support our players through the good times and the bad. I believe he has a lot of credit in the bank and I believe he will get back to his high standards we saw last term. The players are clearly very low on confidence right now, and the last thing they need is fans booing or slating them on social media.

If there's anyone to blame for this mess, it's the owners. The Wilder saga made them out to be amateurs, the AI recruitment strategy that they seemingly abandoned on deadline day. Losing Ahmedhodzic, Souza and the loans to replace them with really underwhelming signings (minus Mee and Tanganga) and the failure to sign a natural right-back/any good wingers is going to mean a mid-table finish is probably the best we can hope for.

I remember when people were claiming he was going to get into the England squad a few months ago 🙃

He was never that good.

His kicking is his biggest weakness. He still pulled off a couple of top saves in the last few games. He's not as bad as some are making out

He is playing with an injury

That thing first half where he tried to sidestep their player or megs him, when 6ft off his line was a heart in the mouth moment. Not sure what the thought process was there.

He was literally the best GK in the entire division after Trafford last season. He's out of form and he probably lacks confidence right now. It happens.
Have you seen Trafford and some of the mistakes he's made for City this season? I bet Burnley would still take him back in a heartbeat.

He made quite a steady regression last season from looking a level above the Championship to suddenly looking incredibly average and letting a lot of tame efforts get past him. He’s been absolutely rubbish for some of the goals scored against us this season, the first goal last night another one, and I still partly blame him for that Sunderland winner, as harsh as it sounds. Not sure what’s happened with him.

Doesn't look confident. Is nowhere near comfortable enough with the ball for our defence to give it to him with an attacker within 10 yards - they need to just take that option off the table.

I'd rather play Faxon than Davies, but either way I don't think Coops loses any sleep about starting.

I don't think you can blame anyone but Moore for the Sunderland winner but I do agree that Cooper should probably have done better with what was a well placed but ultimately tame effort...

Maybe Coops looked better last season due to a stronger, (arguably) back line and more solid midfield in front of him? Burrows was giving 8 out of 10 every week and is now around a 5, Choudhury was better at RB than anything we have now, we definitely miss Anel, although I think Tanganga will get better as the season progresess and Mee started only his second game last night. McGuinness so far is about on a par with JLT.

Midfield was definitely more solid with Vini.

He lacks athleticism for me, so has no chance against shots like their second one last night as he doesn’t get any lift in his dives. Makes great instinctive saves still, and is good on crosses.

Of course, a goalie who isn’t a good shot stopper and can’t collect crosses is just a man standing in a field.
He isn't gonna generate lift in his dives with dodgy knees which were public knowledge when we bought him.

Unforgivable error that - wtf was he thinking
"I'll just let this ball drift past me whilst their player is breathing down my neck"
