We even lose in style

I don't know what to make of that game at the moment because my emotions are still raw. Feel a bit dazed but not in the least disappointed. COYRAWW!!

Only a Wider side can make you leave with your head held high after conceding 5 at home. Plenty of positives as well as things to work on. Now let's take it out on the Brummies. COYRAWW!!!!

Can’t say I really left with my head held high. I left feeling extremely pissed off that we’ve managed to lose all 3 points when we were looking quite comfortable.

Isn’t football weird.

Against Burton we won but I felt sad.
Tonight we lose but I feel pretty content.

Fulham have been similiar to Brentford this season.
They often have about 15 shots each game but usually score ONE goal.

Think tonight they only had 6 shots and amazingly 5 of them went in.
Sometimes you get games like that, very entertaining though.

I thought defensively we were very naive - But you still have to be proud of the players, they fought for absolutely everything.

Reminded me of Swindon in the playoffs a few years ago. Made an incredible comeback from 3 down but still lost.

Granted it was over two legs and we weren't half the team we are today, but...

I'm not too disheartened after that. I'm actually quite proud. As you say, to feel like that after conceding 5 at home says it all about this team.

Yes there was some bad defending but we caught Fulham on a clinical night. And they do have some very good players. They were due something like this and unfortunately we were on the end of it. It was just one of those strange (and entertaining) games. They were never really 2 let alone 3 goals better than us at any point. We had to chase the game in the second half and they hit us on the counter twice to exaggerate the scoreline.

At 5-2 with many of our pea hearted plebs leaving early it seemed like it might be a heavy defeat, so to fight back like that was satisfying. I know they were ultimately only consolation goals but they weren't flukes, they were merited.

And Leon getting back to back home hat tricks.... beyond belief! That sealed a spectacular defeat.

The team we put out tonight was understrength. We could've done with Baldock for this game more than any. We were obviously without Coutts, and also Basham in his influential RCB role.
But the performance level was there, as it always is. We performed well with the team we had on the pitch.

I'm not concerned about anything based on this match in isolation, but there's no getting away from the fact losing Coutts is a huge blow. I think our hopes of automatic promotion have nosedived. But how funny is it to say that given where we've come from?

Thankfully plenty of fans did bother to stay and the total respect we have for this team was there for all to see at the end. Moments like that stick in the players' minds and strengthen the bond we have.

Said on another thread, I really don't think anyone will come to Bramall Lane this season, move the ball at that speed, finish all their chances and play like they did tonight. First half their passing was on a different level and they made us look like some of the teams that we've mincemeat out of in the last couple of years.
We just caught them on 'one of those nights', that's all. Our mistakes obviously didn't help too but I have faith we'll play with just as much commitment and batter most teams this season at BDTBL.
Carruthers looked very bright off the bench and Brooks will terrify most tiring defences.
It really is still there for us.

The Swindon game was 5-5. We were knocked out because of the first leg.
