We don't look dangerous

Too easy for Newcastle. This is a pre pre pre season performance. Wilder's got work to do.

I think we all need to remember, Newcastle aren't a bad team, they're a perennially mismanaged team... we are punching above our weightand have been dicked by VAR on several occassions this season. We are playing with no crowd, after a worldwide crisis. Our most expensive player is a kid who has changed leagues and countries, a month or so before the world went mad. Calm down guys... weve had a crap two games... UTB!!!

Thought Berge had one of his better games, but why was Egan getting involved with Joleinton inter first half?
He looked short of his best on Wednesday but today he looked jaded from the off.

We were the exact same pre-lockdown. But we were limping along getting results somehow.

This partnership doesn’t work, and we lump it forward far too often. We’re so much better when we just keep the ball moving.

Agree with this. We had the same issues in February and March. We did well to grind out some results in that period but we haven't had anything like the spark we had in the autumn when Moose and Didzy were tearing it up.

McBurnie and Sharp up front and a flat midfield three means we create next to nothing. At the moment we look like we could go the rest of the season without scoring.

We need McBurnie on the toes of the back line creating a vortex for Sharp to feed off. He didn’t spring forward off the centre half to receive the ball, he hung around aimlessly in midfield. They got bodies behind and made the forward pass difficult as there was no room. His strength is battling with the last man. I wonder whether this was a deliberate tactic or just his decision.

I think that goes for the entire team it's as though we have trained too hard and look a
Knacked group no energy no drive , and confidence drained away as the 2nd half progressed

Watcha mean, we don't look dangerous?
Shit's dangerous innit?

Its not even as if our style of play has been 'sussed' during lockdown.

Play to our strengths and play well and we had the beating of Vile and Toon, but we played awful terrible football.

I think it's simply that Sharp and McBurnie work as a partnership. There's plenty of honest effort there but not enough natural pace and movement.

Agreed. If that is the way then we HAVE to find way of making that work though.

It's games like tha twhen you need pace at the top of the pitch - bit like St Maximan to day. Newcastle were equally poor and if Egan had stayed on, it would have ended 0-0.

Pace can always cause a problem no matter how good/bad or indifferent a game is.

CW prioritised "up top" last summer signings - he needs to prioritise that area once again - ship some out, bring some in. Tough job.

UTB

Mousett has clearly upset Wilder or the backroom team with something he’s done.

Don’t get me wrong he’s not a Panacea for the issues we currently face post resumption but it was clear after midweek we needed to get more pace up front so to start McBurnie and Sharp up top again was criminal today.

Thats two teams selections wrong, and two slow negative performances, people saying it was like a Nigel Adkins side, well I think it was like a Nigel Clough side, setting up to contain and try to snatch a goal from something.

To be fair, Billy should’ve bagged today and was it Zivkovic who nearly had a tap in? Toothless going forwards these last two games though and it needs sorting.

We're not a particularly dangerous offensive team.

We need to remember both Villa and Newcastle have been doing video on us for months for their first game. They knew all they needed too, cut the link ups and force us to play long/channels.

We needed Moose up top today. I'd have gone with Sharp and Moose up top.

Not sure there are players in the squad to be 'more dangerous'.

Might be time for CW to switch it more to the 'Duffy' system, with Luke Freeman in there. The midifled/attack link-up has not happened since lockdown and it's shows by the lack of chances we have created. Mouss needs to play - we are a better team with him in, and I think CW got it wrong to not pick him today after the rubbish performance at Villa park.

Berge was marginally better today then against Villa. But for me, he can't play in the same team as Norwood. JOC has been a massive miss.

I disagree, they do not link up at all. Time to end this and change it around. McBurnie looks like he doesn't give a fuck at the minute.

I think wilder could have decided to save moose for Wednesday as todays match was virtually over after an hour. If he doesn't play on Wednesday then summat has definitely gone off.

2 games and barely a sniff at goal for us against crap opposition. Worrying times.

I said Adkins but you are right it was more a Clough performance.

Both games we have set out perfectly for our opponents. We were poor against Newcastle at home and played into their hands. Same again here. Their defence had minimal pressure from the start. Played straight into there hands. Luke Freeman has to start against a team who sits back with didzy & Mousset.

Newcastle are just about the worst team I’ve seen this season, and they have beaten us twice. Says something, but I don’t know what.
