When a manger starts to contradict their own ethos mistakes have been made somewhere along the line.

I’m starting to think the reason we haven’t changed the system is because we just haven’t got the players to do so. No attacking midfielders, no wingers. Instead we have two box to box midfielders, three deep lying playmakers underpinned by a collection of strikers that are good at running in one direction quickly or shite at finishing.

We have loaded this squad up with defensive minded players that work hard but offer no creativity. I’m not asking we finish in the top 16 of this division just want to stay up.

130million spent to make the squad worse than it was before.
Its baffling you'd think there would be another player besides Berge who might show a glimpse of quality every now and again. All while Deano stagnates on the bench. and Freeman who looked good in his few appearances last season can't get in a weak Forest side.

Crying out for some pace to give us something up top and he brings Couldntgiveafuckstram on

I think the Lunny situation has made it toxic. They can all joke around in training but at the end of the day they are playing with a player who doesn't want to be here.

We have pace up top it’s just it’s sat on the bench and that’s all they can do...run fast. Even then you have to question

- How we intend to play front foot football in our own half, then play two slow strikers up top which limits our ability to counter attack.

Or

- Keeping it tight at the back, while allowing more shots than any other premier league team then play two slow strikers up top which limits our ability to counter attack.

It’s so contradictory.

The promotion side beats this side all day long.

As it stands, several of the signings are wrong and a waste of money. They all have to work to prove that statement wrong.

You know, I used to give Clough and Adkins pelters for assembling a collection of non scoring midfielders with zero creativity, and used to criticise Clough for his failure to construct a forward line and for playing with no pace...

And then I look at the current squad...

Unfortunately the football we are currently playing is a mixture of Nigel Clough, David Weir and Warnock imo. Be hard to beat, but still get beaten, get hold of the ball and overplay, when losing put three up front and kick it long.

Remember though we have good team spirit aka Adkins and his fucking Flying V.

We don't have the players to change the system, bar maybe Burke who can be a pacey outlet. This stems from the poor transfer strategy in the summer. We signed back up players for the existing system, rather than adding quality to that system or a few players to allow us to play a different way.

This is why the recruitment over the summer was poor - because it neither improved the current system nor added an alternative option.

I got roundly pilloried for deigning to mention that two of our (at the time) record signings from last Summer were already out the door - Luke Freeman and Callum Robinson. But just look at some of the big signing since promotion:

Callum Robinson - Dismal, gone

Luke Freeman - Apparently signed for a position we no longer play with. Wouldn't have got in to our Champ side. Gone (on loan)

Lys Mousset - Superb...for one game in every five. When fit.

Oli McBurnie - Wins a lot of aerial duels. I'm not sure on the process where we can trade these in exchange for points (perhaps there's a form we need to fill out?), but I'm sure we can because everyone keeps banging on about them.

Sander Berge - Obviously absolutely wonderful, as keeps being pointed out, but given we've gone from challenging for the Champions League to cannon-fodder during his time here, he's either a poor fit for this side or marginally less brilliant at football than is claimed.

Aaron Ramsdale - A significant downgrade of Henderson (despite what the Pollyannas were telling us in pre-season) and it really shows.

Rhian Brewster - He's not had much time yet, but given the rest of our Summer business, our entire plan for this season seems to hinge on the lad being a flesh and blood Roy Race, or why else would we have otherwise completely eschewed buying any creativity or other goal threat? Has yet to look like Roy Race.

The manager has been given more than enough money since our promotion to ensure he does have squad options.
