"Just" £9000 a week on average.

How can they live?!

I'm sure the average is being substantially skewed though by players like Bryan who'll be on naff all in comparison, assuming it's not just total bollocks.

I'd expect players who've signed in summer or signed new contracts post promotion to be on £20k or so.

Doesn't surprise me that we're paying the least but unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if players jumped ship in January now they've been in the shop window.

Average is the clue I imagine. Our first 11 will be on very decent money by now, or about to be if their contracts are about to be renegotiated.

Players like Stearman, Bryan, K Freeman, Morrison, Clarke, Moore will be bringing the average down for the squad.

At first I thought this, but when you break it down it is still surprising. Stearman was our big signing not long ago. Clarke got a new contract whilst one of the leagues top scorers. Add to that promotion clauses. Bryan and Morrison definitely won't be on a lot though.

To be honest, I think it's just wrong.

I've just done a rough estimate of what just our first XI are earning (including Hendo's Man U wage which I assume we're paying the majority of) and averaged it out over 25 players and that comes out at about £8000. So unless we've got 14 players on £1500 a week or something, it's cobblers.

I reckon what they've done is take our wage bill for last season, assumed some staff wages and divided it by 25. Which is a crap way to work it out, considering promotion bonuses and new players.
